I will be the first to say these young players are absolute animals on the field and the fact that they are only sophomores is just ridiculous. The future is extremely bright for the game and for these players. If we happened to miss any please inform us so we can show love!
Tristtyn Davis – Cy Ranch
Davis triggers fast downhill with little wasted movements. He sees the ball and attacks and has very good sudden burst and quickness in his game. Davis is a sure tackler and plays comfortably in space. He comes off the edge with bad intentions and makes momentum swinging plays. Davis can move around on the defense as well, play the inside or outside backer and cover the slot when asked to do so, but does most of the damage as the edge defender. His role will most definitely be increased more heading into next season and from what we have seen, it will be no issue. Davis has that dawg in him and will leave it on the field.
Carter Jenkins – Klein Forest
Jenkins is a hybrid defender with the skill to play at all levels of the defense. You will see him at the safety position, inside linebacker, or even on the line as an edge defender, but no matter where he is positioned, he will make plays. The speed and range he has is impressive. Jenkins has a very good frame and the athletic ability to matchup with anybody. He does an excellent job of freeing himself up and avoiding blocks to make stops. Jenkins motor stands out on film and the effort he gives. He is a very talented player who has the potential to be a top player in his class.
Michael Sylvalie – Clear Springs
Sylvalie has a great frame and length as an edge defender. He shows good effort and pursuit, and is a disruptive force off the snap. He shows good bend at times does a good job of relocating the ball. Sylvalie can be a real problem the more he develops and do not be surprised when you see his name pop up. He possesses the talent and the more experience he gains the better he will get.
Keegan Demmer – Tomball
Demmer shows excellent coverage skills as a linebacker and can be confused as a defensive back at times with how comfortably he moves in open space. Demmer plays sideline to sideline and does a good job of recognizing plays. Demmer can matchup with any slot receiver or tight end and run with them with no problem. He reads routes and sometimes runs them better than the receiver. In the run game his is solid and makes plays as an unblocked played for short yardage. Demmer is a player to watch for before he blows up!
