They are enormous human beings who are physical, relentless, and mechanically sound. Learn about these guys now as they will be paving the way, on the ground and through the air, for their teams in the next couple of years to come.
OL1 Cody Fox Cody Fox 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL East Buchanan | 2024 State IA , 6’4″ / 265, East Buchanan, hudl, Twitter
Fox, an Iowa commit and the number 1 ranked Offensive Lineman in the class of 2024, is an elite athlete at the line of scrimmage. There is a play on his highlights where he lines up at Guard, combos the Nose so the Center can reach him, then climbs to the near Linebacker and flattens him. It was the most violent of collisions. Not only did the initial contact snap his opponent back, but Fox accelerated his feet, ran through his hands with great posture, and drove his victim into the turf. The play was executed with brutality and textbook technique. Several other plays ended with that same result when pulling and down blocking, too.
OL2 Brennen Blegen Brennen Blegen 6'3" | 270 lbs | OL Benton | 2024 State IA , 6’3″ / 270, Benton, hudl, Twitter
Blegen helped pave the way for one of class 3A’a top rushers and made a name for himself in the process. He comes in at number 2 in the Offensive Line rankings and it is just a matter of time before he becomes a household name and his recruitment takes off. Blegen has meat hooks for hands and often disorients opponents when he lands them. There was a play where Blegen lined up at Right Tackle, base blocked a 4i, and practically lifted him off the ground on his initial strike and drive. He made contact near the hash marks and took him for a ride close to the sideline and about five yards behind the line of scrimmage.
OL3 Tono Cornell Tono Cornell 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Independence | 2024 State IA , 6’3″ / 280, Independence, hudl, Twitter
Cornell, an incredibly strong young man whose power is very functional and evident in his position specific movement on film, comes in at number 3 in the Offensive Line rankings. Cornell, as a Sophomore, was part of a unit that blocked for a 2,000 yard rusher. Seeing how he got out of his stance with a ton of force and velocity, essentially resetting the line of scrimmage and creating positive yards to his side of the ball, makes what Independence was able to accomplish on the ground easy to believe. Cornell can manhandle Defensive Linemen, but what really impresses is how agile and athletic he is when blocking in space.
OL4 Carson Campisi Carson Campisi 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA , 6’5″ / 300, Southeast Polk, hudl, Twitter
State champion Carson Campisi Carson Campisi 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA got some very meaningful work on Southeast Polk’s imposing Offensive Line as a Sophomore at Right Tackle. The way Campisi, a mountain of a young man, moved and showed off top notch mobility while blocking gets him into the rankings at number 4. Pass protection is usually where young Linemen struggle, but Campisi, as evidenced by many snaps on his highlights, proved that he excels here. On one clip against Dowling he took a very patient set, stayed square at a proper angle, and picked up a tough stunt. There was nothing passive about his technique as he drove his opponent back and into the ground.
OL5 Kyle Rakers Kyle Rakers 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Dowling Catholic | 2024 State IA , 6’3″ / 255, Dowling Catholic, hudl, Twitter
Rakers, Left Tackle for the Maroons, impressed in his Sophomore campaign as the anchor on his Offensive Line. The maturity of his position specific, in-game technique is what stands out most right now and earns him the number 5 ranking among Offensive Linemen in the class of 2024. Rakers has a clear drive and catch leg when pass setting; he gets the midline of his opponent and has patient hands. Rakers also erupts downhill on run blocks with excellent power and posture. What makes it all possible is his stance, it is excellent. Rakers establishes a powerful base with centered weight that allows him to move explosively at any angle.
OL6 Noah Winger Noah Winger 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Bondurant-Farrar | 2024 State IA , 6’3″ / 250, Bondurant-Farrar, hudl, Twitter
The Bluejays run game appears to be in great hands with Winger, the 6th ranked Lineman in the class of 2024, blocking for the number 1 Running Back in the same class. The young corps has already produced a top 5 rushing season in class 4A and the ceiling of what they can achieve moving forward is very high. What stands out right now, and what is a great foundation for Winger to build on, is the athleticism present in how he executes his job. Winger excels on combo blocks and pulls. As the Right Tackle he is often wrapping through when pulling or climbing to the next level when combo blocking. He looks very comfortable in space.
OL7 Parker Strawn Parker Strawn 6'1" | 260 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2024 IA , 6’0″ / 260, Southeast Polk, hudl, Twitter
Strawn, another Rams Offensive Lineman, is making it clear that Southeast Polk has the young talent to carry the torch of excellent line of scrimmage play. It is a big asset to have a Guard who can get nasty on inside gaps and that is exactly what they have in Strawn; he comes in as the number 7 ranked Offensive Lineman in the class of 2024. He creates very big lanes and opens up a lot of space for ball carriers to run through. Strawn has a clear understanding of what it means to attack with leverage. He is also very effective in pass protection. Strawn does an excellent job of picking up blitzes and making opponents rush through him.
OL8 Logan Johnson Logan Johnson 6'1" | 265 lbs | OL Kennedy | 2024 State IA , 6’1″ / 265, Kennedy, hudl, Twitter
Kennedy’s strong season was certainly aided and made possible by their ability to establish the run against some of the top competition in 5A. They mercilessly pounded the rock and opposing defenses knew they were in for a physical contest. Having a young Offensive Lineman like Logan Johnson Logan Johnson 6'1" | 265 lbs | OL Kennedy | 2024 State IA , who comes in at number 8 in the rankings, to set the tone up front is invaluable. Watching Johnson on base blocks and double teams, and the way pounds his insteps to drive his opponents, often onto their backs, and then peel off to lock onto a second opponent is impressive. Johnson plays aggressively and is technically proficient.
OL9 Keegan McMillan Keegan McMillan 6'0" | 260 lbs | OL West Sioux | 2024 State IA , 6’0″ / 260, West Sioux, hudl, Twitter
McMillan is a wrecking ball up front for the Falcons. There is a clip on his highlights where he is in pass protection, there isn’t a single defender trying to rush a lane to either side of him, so he looks for work and absolutely cleans the clock of the Defensive End who beat the Tackle next to him. A lot of young Offensive Line would just continue to set and block space, but McMillan showed a lot of maturity and plenty of impressive ability in the process. McMillan, the number 9 Offensive Lineman in the class of 2024 rankings, is relentless and has a ton of fight in him. His aggressive demeanor and violent style of play are very evident in his highlights.
OL10 Payton Jacobe Payton Jacobe 6'2" | 230 lbs | OL ACGC | 2024 IA , 6’2″ / 230, ACGC, hudl, Twitter
Rounding out the top 10 in the Offensive Line column for the class of 2024 is Payton Jacobe Payton Jacobe 6'2" | 230 lbs | OL ACGC | 2024 IA , who is a downhill force for the Chargers. ACGC rushed for nearly 4,000 yards as a team last season and exceptional numbers like that are made possible by incredible efforts of the guys up front. The way Jacobe gets under the pads of his opponents, preventing them from ever getting leverage, ever being able to lockout, or ever recover and overcome the block is outstanding. Jacobe gets all of his weight and power behind his hands, snapping Defensive Linemen across from him upright, and it is all over from there. He just doesn’t let up.
