[player_tooltip player_id="257614" first="Takoda" last="McLeod"]-WR |6’1 170| |Carroll| @TakodaMcLeod on Twitter
[player_tooltip player_id="257614" first="Takoda" last="McLeod"] is a very complete wide receiver, it’s hard to find any major deficiencies in his game. McLeod has a good size to him, plays very smart and physical, and has a great set of strong hands. It’s often McLeod will either bully defensive backs by burning them downfield or by making tough contested catches in heavy coverage. In addition to that McLeod is also an incredibly reliable red-zone or scoring option, the frequency of which he’s found in the end zone is really impressive, he just finds ways to put points up for Caroll. In addition to his value on offense, McLeod also has provided help on special teams as well, providing his offense with good starting field position whenever he is asked to return punts/kicks. As McLeod prepares for his senior season this upcoming season be on the lookout for him out wide, as it’s almost certain that he will be making big plays for Carroll this fall.
[player_tooltip player_id="286150" first="Calvin" last="Hughley"]-RB |5’8 190| |Opelika| @CalvinHughleyJr on Twitter
[player_tooltip player_id="286150" first="Calvin" last="Hughley"] had a great start to his high school career last fall as he put up a terrific freshman season for Opelika. Hughley has great vision that allows him to create some massive plays, he always knows where he needs to take the ball to be productive and consistently finds yardage and the end zone. Hughley also has a good amount of strength that assists him greatly when he needs to break tackles or plow through defenders. His vision and strength paired together are what have allowed him to be as reliable as he has been. As a freshman, Hughley built up a great foundation for the rest of his time at Opelika and will continue to build on top of the skills he already has. Keep an eye on this prospect going forward, he’s going to make some awesome plays next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="286148" first="Davion" last="Lake"]-LB |6’2 210| |Minor| @DavionLake on Twitter
[player_tooltip player_id="286148" first="Davion" last="Lake"] is a linebacker that thrives off of being a jack of all trades. Lake was placed at both safety and linebacker last fall but he plays almost a hybrid of both positions together, there’s a lot of versatility he has that makes it hard to stop him. When playing against the run, Lake is a fantastic tackler, he has great technique and pursuit that rarely if ever allows any large yardage to be created against him. Against the pass, Lake plays very well in coverage, keeping up with receivers while breaking up or intercepting passes. Currently, Lake does not list any scholarship offers, but it shouldn’t be a surprise to see some opportunities arrive for him. Lake has a ton of potential and is going to continue to be a big-time player for Minor throughout the remainder of his high school career.
[player_tooltip player_id="251757" first="Jay" last="Williams"]-LB |6’1 220| |Handley| @KVNGJAY_23 on Twitter
[player_tooltip player_id="251757" first="Jay" last="Williams"] has quickly emerged as one of Handley’s best defensive players and showed that he has the ability to be a super productive middle linebacker as an underclassman. Williams posted a fantastic sophomore season in 2021, totaling up 73 tackles (16 for loss) and 6 sacks, constantly making his presence known on the field. Williams is super instinctual which can be seen when he presents his unreal ability of stopping the run. When facing the run, Williams seems to always know which gap or lane he needs to attack to meet the ball carrier, and he does it extremely well by tearing through offensive linemen to wrap up and bring the ball carrier down for loss. Against the pass, Williams has also demonstrated his blitzing ability which helped Handley bring down opposing quarterbacks often. Currently, Williams just recently received his first offer from Texas State, and there will surely be more heading his way as he prepares for his junior season!
