Continue ReadingThe state of South Carolina is littered with talent, but the talent in York and Lancaster Counties probably stands out a little bit more than other areas of the state. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be highlighting unranked players in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 classes who caught our eye on film or while seeing them in person during the 2022 season. And there’s a good chance many of these guys will find themselves in our next Rankings update this spring.
This week and next, we will focus on the 2023 class. Let’s dive into Week 1:
Myles Stinson (@MylesStinson1), DB, Indian Land (@Indian_Land_FB)
Stinson has the ability to take a direct snap in the wildcat formation and get a few quick yards with his feet and he doesn’t hesitate once the ball is snapped. He can run in between the tackles well. This translates to his play on defense as he’s able to read and react quickly to plays that go to the sideline, for example.
Jaden Peoples (@JadenPeoples_4), DB/RB, Indian Land (@Indian_Land_FB)
Peoples is listed at 6’0, 165 pounds and he is a ball hawk at his defensive back position. He doesn’t have to play press coverage because of his ability to react quickly when the ball is snapped. On offense, he can take the direct snap at wildcat and create separation between opposing defenders.
Zachary Moss (@Zachary_moss75), OL, York (@YorkRecruits)
One of the things that was impressive about Moss was his ability to move his feet and execute the pull blocks well. He has the ability to get to the second level, create holes for the running game and get out quickly on screen passes to knock out the first threat that he sees.
Ethan Brown (@Emanb2004), OL, York (@YorkRecruits)
Brown is listed at 6’6, 294 pounds and he brings the heat when he comes. He can move defensive lineman off the ball well and get to the second level. He’s another offensive lineman that has good foot quickness along with the ability to go sideline to sideline.
Elijah Farmer (@elijahfarmer13), RB, Clover (@Clover_Football)
Farmer excels in finding lanes in between the tackles and making his cuts at the right time. Once he finds the hole, he turns it up field quickly and will run you over or make you miss if you try to arm tackle him. We noticed on his film that it took two or three guys to bring him down at times.
