The Class of 2023 has several outstanding running backs, some of whom are relatively unheralded at the moment, but are ready to make a significant splash. These prospects are ready for huge senior seasons. Look for these student-athletes to have breakout years in 2022.
Cody Mikulich Cody Mikulich 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Bloomington North | 2023 State IN , 5’11, 185 pounds, Bloomington North
Cody Mikulich Cody Mikulich 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Bloomington North | 2023 State IN provides explosiveness for Bloomington North’s offense. A tough player, Mikulich is multi-dimensional as he can be a receiving threat as well as a dominant runner. Mikulich was extremely productive last year. He carried the ball 160 times for a little over 1,100 yards. He turned in a very impressive seven yards per carry. Mikulich had 16 touchdown runs while rushing for over 100 yards in a game five times. Mikulich recorded 30 receptions for over 600 yards and nine scores. He was also a threat as a kickoff returner, returning 13 kicks for over 300 yards and a pair of kickoff return touchdowns.

Noah Mungia Noah Mungia 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB New Prairie | 2023 State IN runs with purpose every time that he carries the ball. Mungia uses a good burst to get to the second level. He can change direction extremely well, and when he gets into the open field, he is so difficult to tackle. Mungia proved himself to be a durable back, taking an astounding 253 handoffs this past season. With those carries, he amassed over 1,700 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Look for Noah Mungia Noah Mungia 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB New Prairie | 2023 State IN to put together a dominant senior campaign.
Luke Switzer Luke Switzer 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB South Putnam | 2023 State IN , 6’0, 185 pounds, South Putnam
Luke Switzer Luke Switzer 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB South Putnam | 2023 State IN had a productive junior year, and he looks set for bigger things next season. Switzer has good vision. He finds the hole and gets to the open field. When he does find that space, the defense has a serious problem on their hands, as Mungia can turn a little bit of room into a big gain. He is a good one-cut runner, capable of putting his foot in the ground and exploding through the hole. Switzer provides tremendous versatility in the fact that he plays running back, outside linebacker and free safety. Switzer had over 500 rushing yards last year to go along with eight touchdowns. Defensively, Switzer was always around the football. He recorded 66 tackles with 12 tackles-for-loss, three sacks and five passes defensed.

Whether it was at running back, cornerback or punter, Eli Carter Eli Carter 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Tipton | 2023 State IN consistently finds ways to help his team. As a running back, Carter does well to get to the outside, where he can be dangerous and create a big play. Carter ran for over 1,600 yards this past season with an incredible average of over nine yards per carry. Carter practically set up residence in the endzone, scoring 28 TDs on the ground. He surpassed the 100-yard mark in a game on nine occasions. Carter also proved that he is a viable pass-catching option. He brought in 17 passes for 226 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Carter’s effort and production did not dip on the defensive side of the ball. He accumulated 40 tackles with one tackle-for-loss. On the back end he was a disruptor, defending against four passes and intercepting two of them. He punted the ball eight times for 240 yards, and he came up just shy of 200 kickoff return yards, proving that he can be impactful on special teams.
