On Wednesday, it was national signing day and 2022 prospects from all over the state signed with their future college programs. On Friday, we made our final update to the 2022 rankings. These rankings have been updated multiple times a year since our website launched in the summer of 2020. We can't wait to look back on this final update and see what each guy did at the next level and see just how accurate or inaccurate they were. But over the next several days, we'll spotlight several players at each position that have stood out to us in one way or another.
In this post, we put a spotlight on the offensive linemen. Overall, 30 linemen made it into the final Top 200. 13 of those prospects were also in the Top 100. Deer Creek [player_tooltip player_id="38666" first="Jacob" last="Sexton"] has had a stranglehold on the #1 spot for OL in this 2022 class and nothing changed here as he came in at #3 overall. You can read about Sexton in our Top Ten spotlight RIGHT HERE. But here, we put a spotlight on 10 offensive linemen who have stood out to us over the last few seasons. You can check out all of the offensive linemen in the Top 200 at the bottom of the post.
17) [player_tooltip player_id="38673" first="Cade" last="McConnell"] - Choctaw
We can't help but wonder what could have been for Choctaw and their star offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38673" first="Cade" last="McConnell"]. The Choctaw standout missed his senior season due to a leg injury and the Yellowjackets missed one of the more physical offensive lineman prospects in the state. McConnell has been that guy for over two years now and is a prospect who will absolutely lock onto a defender and not let them go anytime soon. McConnell is headed up north to Minnesota.
20) [player_tooltip player_id="38675" first="Will" last="Thomas"] - Union
If you've been following this website at any point over the last 18 months or so, you know the name [player_tooltip player_id="38675" first="Will" last="Thomas"] from Union. Any time we've written about the offensive line group within the 2022 class, Thomas is always near the top of the list. I've been a fan of his game since watching him as a junior and he got off to a fiery start as a senior as well. Thomas brings a lot to the table and has been a borderline top 20 prospect overall since we started doing the rankings.
21) [player_tooltip player_id="135491" first="Davis" last="Dotson"] - Berryhill
Right behind Thomas is Berryhill offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="135491" first="Davis" last="Dotson"]. And honestly, there isn't much that separates the two as they are very similar in their styles and frames. Dotson has a story that most would like as he had opportunities to sign back in December but bet on himself and held out hope for an opportunity closer to home. He got the offer from Oklahoma State and pulled the trigger as the Cowboys continue to recruit Oklahoma exceptionally well.
48) [player_tooltip player_id="38756" first="Jordan" last="Nolin"] - Holland Hall
I first saw [player_tooltip player_id="38756" first="Jordan" last="Nolin"] during his junior season when Holland Hall dismantled everyone on their way to a state championship and unbeaten season. Nolin and his excellent senior class at Holland Hall wasn't finished there as they won state again in 2021. Nolin is a big prospect that has shown plenty of versatility during his time at Holland Hall. He can be moved around along the offensive line and even showed he can flip over and play defensive tackle at times.
58) [player_tooltip player_id="38708" first="Gabe" last="Grazier"] - Oologah
Oologah lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38708" first="Gabe" last="Grazier"] is always going to be a name we remember. At our first ever camp in Owasso in June of 2021, Grazier came to the camp with no offers. He was one of the top performing offensive lineman prospects there and he left with multiple offers and more interest from his eventual college choice UCO. Grazier is a fantastic interior offensive lineman that could move from either guard spot or even play a little center at the next level.
62) [player_tooltip player_id="135996" first="Dawson" last="Rudd"] - Claremore Sequoyah
Another prospect that absolutely lit it up at our first ever camp was Claremore Sequoyah's [player_tooltip player_id="135996" first="Dawson" last="Rudd"]. At the time, we weren't sure what Rudd would end up being as he had some potential on the offensive line and defensive line and even some tight end. But Rudd's brightest future is probably on the O-line where he can take advantage of his frame. He's headed off to the next level and once he starts hitting the college weights, he's going to be scary.
65) [player_tooltip player_id="283219" first="Andrew" last="Sawyer"] - Elmore City
I'll be honest, one of my favorite things is seeing a giant lineman like Elmore City's [player_tooltip player_id="283219" first="Andrew" last="Sawyer"] playing Class A football. It makes truly evaluating a lineman like Sawyer tough because of the size advantage he has against nearly every opponent he's ever faced. But it's also obvious that Sawyer has earned his spot on this list and should be considered one of the better guys at the position. In addition to the size, Sawyer knows what he's doing at the point of attack.
81) [player_tooltip player_id="189930" first="Troy" last="Pearman"] - Oklahoma Christian Academy
Speaking of massive linemen playing Class A football, we have another one with Oklahoma Christian Academy senior [player_tooltip player_id="189930" first="Troy" last="Pearman"]. Sometimes we just miss on prospects and it's pretty obvious after a ranking update that we should have had guys much higher or in the ranking at all and Pearman is an example of that. After checking his tape out and seeing the size he plays the game with, Pearman was a no-brainer to be a top 100 prospect overall.
122) [player_tooltip player_id="263651" first="Trey" last="Gibbs"] - Jenks
Jenks lost some serious talent from their 2020 state championship team, including on the offensive line but the 2021 Trojans didn't miss a step. Part of that had to do with offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="263651" first="Trey" last="Gibbs"] stepping up into more of a leadership role with this group. Gibbs had to be good with his hand placement and overall work because he wasn't the biggest lineman out there. But he's headed to NEO and has the chance to end up at another program in a year or two.
139) [player_tooltip player_id="160657" first="Avion" last="Simon"] - McAlester
We don't promote other media outlet's articles very often but you should check out this story from the Oklahoman on our last prospect. We knew that McAlester senior [player_tooltip player_id="160657" first="Avion" last="Simon"] was one of the best offensive linemen in Class 5A but now we're rooting for him to succeed at the next level and with whatever he does in the future. But on the field, Simon is an absolute mauler of a lineman who can make you go whatever way he wants you to go.
