They each have all of the qualities of what makes a good receiver, with extra unique qualities that make them stand out from the crowd. If anything, they should receive more attention in recruiting than they already do. These are some gifted athletes. Check them out!
1. Jalen Becerra – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
2021 Season: 1,417 receiving yards, 20 receiving touchdowns
Not only does Becerra have excellent agility and speed, but he has quite a lot of strength as well. He can stiff-arm most defensive backs, and some of his most successful plays are screens, which are not usually the case for most receivers. He is also tremendous in coverage and is able to make some tough catches. Overall, Becerra is incredibly impressive with a lot of raw talent on his shoulders. His highlight tape is almost unbelievable how good it is, and his stats back up the tape.
2. Troy Oliver – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
2021 Season: 1,275 receiving yards, 16 receiving touchdowns, 2 rushing touchdowns, 1 kickoff return for a touchdown
Lined up right alongside Becerra is Oliver. He not only does a lot of work through the air as well but also on special teams. He averages about 28.5 yards per kickoff return and 13.7 on punts. The duo of him and Becerra has created chaos for opposing defenses. Oliver also has excellent speed but route-running abilities as well. He is able to lose defenders deep downfield, but he also can create big plays off of screens. His speed allows him to pull off receiver running plays from the backfield and of course, he has shown his abilities on special teams.
3. Christian Morgan – Weiss High School (Pflugerville, TX)
2021 Season: 1,222 receiving yards, 15 receiving touchdowns, 1 punt return for a touchdown, 1 kickoff return for a touchdown
Another excellent special teams player is Christian “Price” Morgan. He is the kind of receiver that is perfect in the slot and can create a lot of plays given the chance. So much so, he can turn having two defenders having him trapped into a big gain. He is such a slippery receiver with a lot of speed behind him, he is always dangerous on deep balls. Morgan was on a tear all of his senior season, and his tape just showcases his impressive skillset.
4. Reece Beauchamp – Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 1,045 receiving yards, 17 receiving touchdowns
Beauchamp has popped up multiple times on Prep Redzone throughout his senior season, and for good reason. He is fast, has great field awareness, and often creates big plays. He has excellent agility was amongst Brayden Buchanan Brayden Buchanan 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Vandegrift | 2023 State TX ’s favorite targets throughout the season. He was an excellent team player that had great chemistry with his quarterback.
5. Trent Leary – LBJ Austin High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 949 receiving yards, 18 receiving touchdowns
Talk about another fun player to watch, Leary is exceptional at making tough catches. He has a lot of power and speed behind him which is perfect to match against the toughest of defensive backs. He is not afraid to put his body on the line to make a reception. On top of all that, he has the hands of an elite receiver. Throughout his tape, he is making tough catches look easy in stride. He announced his commitment to Texas Southern in January to which he will likely continue his success.
