Southern Utah University offered some top players in Orange County and San Diego this week.
Rising receiver [player_tooltip player_id="253228" first="Conor" last="Lawlor"] of Scripps Ranch was one of the players offered. He is one of the best route runners in San Diego and can create separation with his acceleration. He can make plays after the catch and has a high football IQ. He had over 1,500 yards and 23 touchdowns, the latter is third in the history of San Diego for a single season. Lawlor also has offers from Drake, Valparaiso and San Diego as well as other lower level offers.

His Scripps Ranch teammate [player_tooltip player_id="253284" first="Jalen" last="Shaw"] was also offered by Southern Utah. Shaw is one of the smoothest running backs I saw this year and can make quick cuts to avoid tacklers. He had 22 touchdowns and over 1,400 total yards in just 10 games this season. He’s also a 4.3 GPA student and can play defensive back but I picture him as a running back at the next level. San Diego and Valpo have also offered him.
[player_tooltip player_id="186973" first="Brendan" last="Hale"] of Orange Lutheran was the third player offered by Southern Utah. Hale is a versatile defensive back who can play safety or corner but I like him better as a safety patrolling half the field in zone coverage. He closes to the ball very fast on underneath routes and can lay big hits. He is a solid cover corner in man coverage, but he is more effective as a ball hawk safety. He even was able to come up and play in the box against a double-wing team in the regional championship game. San Diego is the other Division 1 offer for Hale.

BYU ventured down to San Diego and offered some talented class of 2023 skill players in the region.
Mater Dei Catholic athletes [player_tooltip player_id="25445" first="Chris" last="Snyder"] and [player_tooltip player_id="145192" first="Surahz" last="Buncom"] were both offered by BYU this week. Snyder is as fast as anyone and is outstanding in pass coverage. He is a very good receiver too and had eight touchdowns. BYU is the eighth school to offer Snyder.
Buncom is a lengthy receiver who can do it all. He has strong hands, is very fast and can make plays after the catch. He is 6-foot-4 and has room to put on some muscle without sacrificing his speed. He can play in the slot or split out wide and can get open in multiple coverages. Buncom also has an offer from Pittsburgh.

The Cougars also offered Mater Dei receiver [player_tooltip player_id="145133" first="Jeremiah" last="McClure"]. He is a big, strong and physical receiver who nearly had 1,000 yards receiving in just 10 games with eight touchdowns. He has a large catch radius and can create matchup nightmares for opposing defenses. McClure also has offers from Arizona, Michigan, San Diego State, USC and Washington.

The last offers of the day went to a pair of defensive backs: Isaiah Buxton (Mater Dei) and [player_tooltip player_id="145169" first="Marcus" last="Ratcliffe"] (Cathedral Catholic). Buxton is a good cover corner who covers the flat well in zone coverage. He has enough speed to be in lockstep with any receiver he covers in man coverage and is a good special teams player too.
Ratcliffe is a big safety who lays big hits. He can cover guys in man coverage too and patrol large chunks of the field. He is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and was one of the best defensive players on the best team in San Diego.

Liberty University offered some talented underclassmen in Orange County on Thursday.
They offered class of 2024 athlete [player_tooltip player_id="115424" first="Kobe" last="Boykin"] of Orange. He was a 1,000 yard rusher with 23 total touchdowns as a sophomore for the Panthers last season. He is one of the best athletes in his class and is one of the toughest players to tackle I covered last season. Boykin has over 10 offers now.

Liberty also offered his class of 2025 teammate Jakob Coleman. Coleman is a talented receiver and corner who made a big impact for Orange as a freshman last season. He had two interceptions and two touchdowns on offense. Orange is loaded with young talent and Coleman can sometimes get lost in the shuffle, but he is one of the best class of 2025 athletes in the state.
They also offered San Juan Hills class of 2025 pass rusher [player_tooltip player_id="155848" first="Weston" last="Port"]. He had 91 tackles, 25 for a loss including 12 sacks as a freshman against a very competitive schedule. He has strong power pass rush moves despite being only 210 pounds.
