With National Signing Day now under a week away, many offensive linemen are announcing their commitments on the daily. Luckily for programs still in search of some additional beef upfront, there’s still plenty of quality hogs available from this group. Here’s a look at four uncommitted prospects ready to contribute.
Antonio Caballero Antonio Caballero 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Bonner Springs | 2022 State KS – Bonner Springs, 6’3”, 285
Caballero is an underrated two-way lineman coming out of the 4A ranks. The Braves had their struggles this past season, but Caballero managed to have a standout year in the trenches. The senior ended the ‘21 campaign with a 4A All-State Honorable Mention nod and a 1st Team All-Frontier League selection for his play at right tackle.
The Bonner Springs product brings athleticism and solid fundamentals to the table. Caballero moves very well for his size on pulling plays and he displays solid footwork. Although he played tackle this past season, he has the potential to also play inside at guard. He has plenty of experience and would be a great addition to any offensive line at the collegiate level.
Acen Villegas Acen Villegas 6'1" | 300 lbs | OL Lawrence | 2022 State KS – Lawrence, 6’1”, 300
Next up from this group is a bruising left guard from Lawrence High. Many folks around the state are familiar with South Dakota commit, Noah Smith Noah Smith 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Lawrence | 2022 State KS , but it’s time Villegas received some recognition too. Villegas has played many snaps against some top talent the past three seasons, and because of his strong play he’s earned All-Sunflower League honors twice and he also has a 6A All-State Honorable Mention selection to his name.
Recruiters will quickly be drawn to Villegas’ physicality. Villegas has the strength to put the opposition on their rear end and can drive them back several yards. He has a good understanding of combo blocks and he clears some major holes on pulling plays. If programs are still looking for interior offensive line depth, Villegas is their guy.
Kevyan Stallings Kevyan Stallings 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Wichita NW | 2022 State KS – Wichita NW, 6’3”, 285
The Grizzlies had an unbelievable year offensively, as they were one of the top units in the state during the ‘21 season. Their success on offense wouldn’t have been possible without Stallings and his fellow hogs upfront. The senior was recognized for his efforts as he picked up a 1st Team All-City League selection and a 1st Team 5A All-State selection for his play at left guard.
Stallings is a prospect that would bring a polished skill set with him to the next level. He does a great job of firing off the ball and cutting defenders off in the run game. The senior also excels at keeping his pad level low and is consistent with his hand placement. Any program would be lucky to land one of the best guards out of Class 5A.
Dylan Conn Dylan Conn 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Derby | 2022 State KS – Derby, 6’3”, 295
The Derby Panthers have not only had one of the best offensive lines in Class 6A the past few years, but it has arguably been the best in the state. Two members of that unit have already committed to Division I and Division II programs, but their talented center remains unsigned. Conn put together an outstanding career and he capped it off by earning a 1st Team All-AVCTL DI selection and a 6A All-State Honorable Mention nod.
Having a center with a winning mentality and toughness is what every program needs, and Conn can provide this. Conn has been key on each of Derby’s state title runs. He’s consistent with his snaps and he doesn’t need much help on nose guards. Conn is quick to seal off defenders and has the strength to rack up some pancakes. It’s a must for recruiters to give this young man a look before National Signing Day.
