6A Preview: Breakout Candidates on the Horizon

<p>August has arrived, meaning high school football is just weeks away. In this report, we examine several prospects throughout 6A in Kansas who are looking to either break out on the field or in recruitment. Many of these prospects possess the talent and traits necessary to play at the next level. </p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2158585' first='Avinn' last='Ray'] already possesses the size and physicality to be successful at the next level. He currently holds offers from Benedictine, Butler, and Dodge City. Expect that list to grow rapidly throughout the 2026 season. </p>   <p>He displays solid intial quickness in his base and reach blocks, utilizing his positioning to angle defenders in the run game to create running lanes from behind. He's a fit for a wide zone scheme, consistently sealing the edge. He's versatile in alignment due to his quickness and ability to become stout. </p>   <p>Smith displays good quickness off the snap, getting into the body quickly and squeezing to penetrate at the point of attack. He's able to become aggressive against double teams thanks to his anchoring, lower-body strength, and leverage. He's coming off a solid 2025 season in which he rushed for 627 yards on 75 carries and nine touchdowns. </p>   <p>Jones possesses a quick first step with good upfield burst off his plant foot. He was the number six rushing leader in yards (1,812) last season in the state of Kansas. Piva also racked up 21 total touchdowns. </p>   <p>He's Mill Valley's most dangerous weapon heading into 2026 and is expected to garner more attention this fall. Piva is a patient runner with solid post-snap vision, allowing running lanes to develop. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker is going to open some eyes this fall as he flashes physicality and his motor.</p>   <p>Danielson can play off the edge or inside the box, showing a quick first step and flying downhill on runs or blitzes off the edge.
