[player_tooltip player_id="151169" first="Jackson" last="Geerts"]- Sioux Falls Lincoln Geerts is a DE technician and does his job perfectly on every play. He has very good discipline coming off the edge, engaging his lineman on every play and identifying pass or run before attacking the ball. He doesn’t fly up field and scrapes down the Line of scrimmage and takes away any cutback lanes and makes the tackles when the ballcarrier does cut back. Once he reads pass, he sheds his block quickly and gets after the QB. He doesn’t take himself out of the play trying pass moves, he holds his ground on the Line and makes the plays that come him way. He moves well laterally to contain a shifty back and QB to keep them from breaking the ball outside the box. Senior Season [player_tooltip player_id="56535" first="Chance" last="Gregg"]- Herreid- Selby Gregg is a well put together athlete that plays on DL. He is quick off the snap and can shoot gaps quick enough where he is hard to block. When a lineman did get to him, he ran right through him. He was strong enough to run through double team blocks as well and keep pressure on the opposing backfield. He was still disciplined to hold his ground and keep contain on misdirection or trick plays. He broke down extremely well and made good form tackles, but would also bring a big hit when he was squared up. He also had a lot of speed to run down a speedy ballcarrier and enough strength to drag a guy down from behind by his jersey. Senior Season [player_tooltip player_id="271458" first="Aaron" last="Grubb"]- Mandan I’d call Grubb a QB’s nightmare. This kid has a great frame, strength and a ridiculous amount of speed for a DE. He gets good position with his first step off the snap and uses his hands well enough to keep himself free and keep his speed on his rush. He fought pressure well and drove the blocker off of him to keep his contain. He stayed disciplined to keep contain on those teams who ran outside the perimeter a lot. His speed had him running down plays from the backside, or even down the field if they broke a big play, which also showed how good his motor is. His strength helped him bullrush blocker and stick the backs in the backfield. He could also contain a mobile QB, run him down from behind or keep him in the tackle box so he couldn’t break a big play. Senior Season [player_tooltip player_id="271488" first="Blake" last="Van Regenmorter"]- DeSmet Van Regenmorter had a lot of finesse at the DE position. He engaged his blocker on each play and made sure he had his edge set, turning plays back inside to keep the play from breaking open. He read the play really well from the position as well, reading when a back would try to slip out behind him and defended him perfectly. He also moved well laterally to keep himself broken down to make tackles on very shifty ballcarriers and not letting them break the big plays. His speed helped him run plays down from behind and keep plays inside the tackles. He stayed disciplined to not fly upfield and make plays around the Line of Scrimmage on delayed runs. He had enough strength to bullrush when he needed to as well. Senior Season [player_tooltip player_id="271409" first="Logan" last="Albers"]- New Underwood Albers, as Nate called him, is a small school gem. He has a good frame down on the DL and is quick off the snap. I always enjoy when a DT has a good bullrush, which is exactly what Albers had. He really gave the opposing Center problems all game driving him off the Line of Scrimmage and deep into the backfield. Many plays he had the QB flushed out of the pocket and was able to finish the play by taking him down for a sack. He did a good job keeping the OL’s hands off of him when he rushed with good hand technique of his own. He had great speed when he got going and was able to run down the ballcarrier before he could get away. Senior Season
