Stock Up Showcase Top Performers

On a cold morning in Waldick, New Jersey Prep Redzone NY co-hosted the Stock Up Showcase with Prep Redzone NJ. The New York players that attended showed up and showed out! Many new names emerged on the scene for New York, performing well in front of college coaches and all in attendance, and we will cover a good group of them coming up. In this writeup, we will look at some of the top performers from the event, and some of them happen to be from New York! [player_tooltip player_id="126614" first="Chris" last="Mclaughlin"] <strong>WR/ATH</strong> <strong><em>Harrison</em> 2024</strong> McLaughlin was a player I evaluated last season on film but never got the chance to see him in person. He did not disappoint and was an absolute problem all day. Lining up at WR, he showed crisp route running and was smooth overall. When he lined against the competition, he displayed great feet and got separation consistently and on tighter coverage; I saw him adjust and position his body aggressively, attacking the ball, making catches with bodies draped over him. As only a sophomore, he has plenty of time to get bigger and stronger, and I expect him to have a great season coming up. [video width="1280" height="720" mp4="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/01/chris.mp4"][/video] &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="227624" first="Luis" last="Garcia Jr"] <strong>DB <em>Kennedy Catholic Prepatory Academy</em> 2023</strong> There was a demand for DBs at the showcase with a loaded WR turnout, and Luis got good work against a talented group of wideouts. Garcia showed what he does on film with fluid hips and technique application. Luis was diverse and was successful playing up in press and playing catch. He made throws difficult for the many QBs and was attached to the WRs he faced. He consistently works on his craft and has a good frame for a corner. I think [player_tooltip player_id="227624" first="Luis" last="Garcia Jr"] will continue to get better and better and will start warranting serious looks from the next level. Braithwaite provided evidence once again that he is a true burner. On a slippery surface, many of the players needed a while to adjust to the low traction turf, but Braithwaite didn’t need long as he started opening his speed up when the QBs came to join the fun. He made one of the better adjustment catches I saw during the day showing his body control ability to pluck out of the air. Against the DBs, he was quick off the line and could get separation fairly quickly, especially when his speed just took over. [player_tooltip player_id="233589" first="Dylan" last="Braithwaite"] continues to impress and is a big productive piece of the Holy Trinity offensive attack. He should be on everyone’s radar if he is not already. [video width="1920" height="1080" mp4="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/01/Dylan2.mp4"][/video] &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="241127" first="Josiah" last="Brown"] <strong>WR <em>Holy Trinity</em> 2024</strong> Fresh off a Rutgers offer this week [player_tooltip player_id="241127" first="Josiah" last="Brown"] capitalized on the momentum with a great performance. I love watching him as an over-the-top eraser on defense, but he is so dangerous at WR, and he proved it once again. In the 1 on 1s is where Brown put on a show and showed his speed and technical ability as a WR. He is a High IQ player and knows how to set up DBs before getting separation quickly. As a sophomore and a Rutgers offer now in hand, I am confident his recruiting is about to take off in a big way. He will be a top player in the couple of years to come.
