PRZ Showcase Houston Standouts Pt 2

<p class="p1"><span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">On Saturday January 22, 2021 I attended The Prep Redzone Showcase in Houston, Texas. At this exclusive showcase dozens of high school athletes in the area were able to test their speeds and skills in a competitive environment. They got a chance to test their 40 yard dash, their L drill, their shuttle run and their broad jump. They also got a chance to polish up their individual positional skills and competed 1 on 1 against each other. I saw a lot of standout athletes that I’ll be discussing in this two part article.</span></p> <p class="p4"><span class="s2">#21 [player_tooltip player_id="276072" first="Josiah" last="Walker"] DT Class of 2022 6’0 270 lbs Judson High School </span></p> <p class="p4"><span class="s2">[player_tooltip player_id="276072" first="Josiah" last="Walker"] is a big and solid defensive tackle. I noticed Josiah during the individual drills he had the best fundamentals and hands out of defensive linemen at the showcase. During the 1 on 1 portion Josiah was dominating the offensive linemen each play. I believe Josiah didn’t get blocked once and got passed the offensive line to get in the backfield every single time. Demetrius was killing it during the 1 on 1 against the offensive linemen. Demetrius used his quickness and athletic ability to beat the offensive tackle off the ball and get into the backfield. Not only was Micah’s stats good he can also transfer this to the field. Micah made it difficult or almost impossible for running backs to get pass him. With his quickness and solid footwork none of the running backs could easily maneuver around Micah. Micah’s testing stats was a 4.62 40 yard dash, 4.25 Shuttle run, 9’11 broad jump and 7.46 L Drill.</span></p> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-276480" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/01/29CEAED7-9DEA-4A86-8C32-A18BA4DF748C-300x300.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /> <p class="p4"><span class="s2">#50 [player_tooltip player_id="276068" first="Demar" last="Haynes"] RB Class of 2022 5’9 145 lbs Pineville High School </span></p> <p class="p4"><span class="s2">[player_tooltip player_id="276068" first="Demar" last="Haynes"] was a dynamic and fast running back. The 1st time I noticed Demar was during individual drills against the linebackers. [player_tooltip player_id="249928" first="Brock" last="Ramzinsky"] was one of the best linebackers present during the showcase none of the running back could get pass him. However, Demar decided to go 1 on 1 against Brock. Demar ran up to Brock then quick stepped to the left and zoomed pass Brock on the right. Demar used his incredible speed to his advantage. Zac had textbook fundamentals and basics and extremely quick. While spectating the 1 on 1 portion against wide receivers I rarely saw Zac lose. Zac was efficiently staying on his man and not allowing any room for him to catch any passes.
