Prospects to Watch: January Film Submissions

Here we watched and evaluated some of our recent prospect’s film submissions, and they have a lot to offer! &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="268899" first="Skylar" last="Townsend"]- 2024 WR </strong>|6’2 160| |Tanner| </span> Townsend had a breakout sophomore season for Tanner last fall, totaling 32 receptions for 699 yards and 9 touchdowns, helping lead his team to an 8-4 record. Townsend has great size, length, and hands that have allowed him to dominate opposing defensive backs, consistently making a variety of tough contested catches all across the field. In addition to that, Townsend has great instincts, vision, and YAC ability as he is able to adjust plays extremely well, which is shown on plays where he is forced to make plays outside the numbers or where he can take a short pass the distance. Townsend has great potential at wide receiver and still has two more seasons to become even better than he already is, keep an eye on him as he heads into his junior season next fall! &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="268903" first="Connor" last="Knight"]- 2023 DT </strong>|6’3 275| |Pinson Valley|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="268903" first="Connor" last="Knight"] is one of the biggest sleepers in his class, as he quietly put together quite the resume at Pinson Valley last fall. Knight is massive, has great power, and can create great pressure at a variety of spots on the defensive line. Whether in pass rush or against the run, Knight possesses a great skill set that allows him to impose his size and strength to make huge plays in the backfield.  A lot of what Knight does is the dirty work, it doesn’t show up on the stat sheet but constantly causes chaos for opposing offenses. Knight has offers from Houston, Akron, Eastern Kentucky, and more. As he heads into his senior season, Knight will garner more attention and continue to be a force for Pinson Valley’s defense! &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="259484" first="Jackson" last="Veasy"]- 2023 DT </strong>|6’0 274| |Gadsden City|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="259484" first="Jackson" last="Veasy"] is another member of Gadsden City’s young but talented defense heading into next season. Veasy is a monster in the trenches, his tape last year perfectly illustrates that. Veasy has great bursts off of the line, power, and point of attack that allows him to manhandle opposing offensive lineman. Perhaps his best attribute, Veasy’s bull rush is deadly, as he combines that with his motor to consistently beat double teams and force interior pressure on the quarterback. Though not currently listing any offers, I’d be shocked if he didn’t see any come his way his senior season. Keep an eye out on both him and the rest of Gadsden City, as they could certainly make a splash next fall! &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"]- 2024 EDGE </strong>|6’3 215| |Grissom|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"] is a player offensive tackles have to seriously gameplan for, when he is coming off of the edge, it’s hard to contain a guy of his size. Whether against the run or pass, Edwards is versatile enough to make plays in the backfield. Edwards’s best aspect of his play has to be his pursuit and tackling ability, in the open field he’s fantastic at tracking down and wrapping up the ball carrier, it’s almost a guarantee he will bring down whoever. As a sophomore, he had a very productive year for Grissom, and it will be fun to watch him continually add more to his bag of tricks over the next two years.
