In the coming weeks positional and overall rankings will be released by class. As usual all rankings are based on who projects highest at the collegiate level. Have a look at the state’s top 20 DB’s...
DBs
.[player_tooltip player_id="110176" first="Demarcus" last="Houston"] 6-2 185 West Albany (OFFERS: Oregon St)- Credit to the Beavers for getting on Houston early. He has great size as a CB and film that speaks for itself. The 3* recruit is equally talented on the offensive side of the ball as you can expect him to impress on the 7v7 circuit and have a dominant senior campaign.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110180" first="Mark" last="Hamper"] 6-2 200 West Linn- Expect Hamper to be a favorite for offensive and defensive POY honors in 22’ within Oregon. He has a knack for always being in the right spot. This was highlighted by his performance last season, where he accounted for 42 total tackles, 5 INTs and 5 PBUs while earning 1st team All TRL honors on both sides of the football.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110179" first="Drew" last="Rodriguez"] 6-2 195 Sprague- The 3* recruit was the PRZ Underclassmen of the year on the defensive side of the ball, while earning 1st team all-conference honors at three different positions, including as a return man. Rodriguez will go down as one of the best to ever come out of Sprague HS.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110174" first="Kaden" last="Huppin"] 6-0 185 Westview- Expect Huppin to go off on both sides of the football as a senior. With numerous high profile athletes graduating Kaden will be thrust into the spotlight where he should be able to show off his overall athleticism where he separates himself with his testing.
.[player_tooltip player_id="270073" first="Milan" last="Clark"] 6-2 170 Grant- Clark has a stock that is rising quickly after a phenomenal junior season where he earned 1st and 2nd team all-conference honors. He projects on defense where his size and length will help him at the next level.
.[player_tooltip player_id="217272" first="Charlie" last="Ozolin"] 6-2 180 Summit- Ozolin has one of the highest ceilings of any athlete within Oregon. He is still somewhat raw but super talented and could be even better in college. His 2nd team all-conference selection was one of the biggest snubs state wide, potentially being the best DB in league.
.[player_tooltip player_id="147250" first="Brayde" last="Owen"] 6-1 195 Gladstone- Not a lot of people know about Owen playing 4A ball but the kids a player. Expect him to dominate his conference on both sides of the football as a senior and also excel on the 7v7 circuit as part of Team Lillard.
.[player_tooltip player_id="119072" first="Ty" last="Pugliano"] 5-10 180 North Medford- Very few athletes anywhere have built the type of rapport Pugliano has with his team. He is beloved by all and possesses an unreal overall work ethic. He earned 1st team all SWC honors as a Junior and will be in the conference POY conversation on O and D this coming season.
.[player_tooltip player_id="270180" first="Marshun" last="Waters"] 6-0 160 Grant- Much like [player_tooltip player_id="270073" first="Milan" last="Clark"], Waters had a standout season, earning 1st team PIL accolades. He’s coached by the top DB guy in Oregon in Aaron Kincy which doesn’t hurt also.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110237" first="Keontae" last="Johnson-Gibson"] 5-11 165 Clackamas- I think most were really impressed with Keontae during the year as he was physical and continuously in the mix on the defensive side of the ball. His 2nd team All Mt Hood honors spoke to his success.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110579" first="Garrett" last="Speer"] 6-0 190 Jesuit- Speer was a big reason for Jesuit’s deep playoff run and success. The 1st team all conference LB projects as more of a Strong Safety at the collegiate level and was one of the most impressive underclassmen in Oregon defensively.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110232" first="Brady" last="Crenshaw"] 6-1 180 Lebanon- One of the top overall athletes at the 5A level. Crenshaw will be a three year all conference kid and should excel this off season on the 7v7 circuit as part of MVP.
.[player_tooltip player_id="270210" first="Logan" last="Fry"] 6-0 175 Oregon City- Fry grabbed 2nd team All TRL accolades as a Junior and will be a featured defensive athlete within the conference for an OC team with a lot of potential.
.[player_tooltip player_id="147867" first="Alisjah" last="Tucker"] 6-0 170 Southridge- Tucker is a huge bright spot for a Skyhawks program which has struggled. Alisjah will project on D but expect him to get the ball often on offense, potentially playing the QB spot.
.[player_tooltip player_id="205819" first="Nick" last="Ferrero"] 5-11 170 Jesuit- Ferrero broke out as a Sophomore earning 2nd team All Metro honors. He will be key in the secondary for what will be a 6A title contending Crusaders squad next season.
.[player_tooltip player_id="206766" first="Jeray" last="Mott"] 6-0 160 Jefferson- Mott had a great Junior season earning 1st team All PIL accolades while helping Jeff get significantly better as the year progressed. He is one of the most versatile kids in the state.
.[player_tooltip player_id="270182" first="Hudson" last="Staats"] 6-0 170 West Linn- One of the more underrated players in Oregon in my opinion. Staats projects as a 1st or 2nd team All state kid next season after making 45 total tackles with 9 PBUs and 3 INTs from his CB position.
.[player_tooltip player_id="110233" first="Darien" last="Witham"] 5-10 170 Thurston- Witham had a breakout season earning 1st team all state honors, while making 45 total tackles with 3 tackles for loss and 2 INTs. He is a student of the game and an impressive overall athlete.
.[player_tooltip player_id="270193" first="Erick" last="Gonzalez"] 5-10 165 North Salem-Probably the best Twitter handle state wide @yojumpshotwack. Separate from that Gonzalez is a player and one of the top overall athletes at the 5A level in my opinion. North could have one of their best seasons in some time in 2022.
.[player_tooltip player_id="272292" first="Devon" last="Anderson"] 6-2 170 North Eugene- Not a lot of folks know about Anderson, playing for A (1-8) 5A team. That said he put up outstanding numbers on both sides of the football and has the size to boot.
tie.[player_tooltip player_id="271386" first="Isaac" last="Peters"] 5-11 165 Sheldon- Look for Peters to have a big senior campaign after earning 2nd team all conference accolades on both sides of the football in 21’. His 35 total tackles and 24.8 yards per catch average help speak to his versatility.
