NM Legacy 7×7 Travel Team Roster Nearly Complete

Led by  a pair of La Cueva standouts, the roster for the fledgling New Mexico Legacy 7x7 travel team is mostly complete. Coach Ramar Watson from St. Pius X filled 16 of the 20 available spots following Saturday’s tryout in Albuquerque. The current roster, which consists mainly of 2023 and 2024 prospects, is led by La Cueva quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137862" first="Aidan" last="Armenta"]</strong> and exciting wide receiver <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="208744" first="Exodus" last="Ayers"]</strong>, both highly regarded 2023 prospects. Last season Armenta threw for 2,696 yards (3^rd highest in the state) and 28 TD (4^th most in state) in leading the Bears to the semifinals of the Class 6A playoffs. Ayers, meanwhile, stepped off the basketball court, where he’s a star, to play varsity football for the first time and caught 41 passes for 901 yards and 15 TD in just 8 games. He missed four games due to injury. The other two quarterbacks are 2024 prospects: <strong>Noah Nelson</strong> from Rio Rancho and <strong>Jason Ussery</strong> from Los Lunas. Four more receivers besides Ayers made the roster: <strong>Bishop Ortega</strong> (2024) and <strong>Andres Armijo</strong> (2023) from Cleveland, West Mesa WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138047" first="Chris" last="Johnson"] II</strong> (2023) and <strong>James Lockhart</strong> (2024) of Volcano Vista. The lone running back currently on the roster is <strong>Andres Aguirre</strong> (2024) from Albuquerque High. Defensively, two linebackers are on the roster: <strong>Dominic Valencia</strong> (2024) from Rio Rancho and <strong>Joseph Saavedra</strong> (2023) of AHS. Five defensive backs are included on the current roster: <strong>Jackson Cherry</strong> (La Cueva, 2024), <strong>Tavon Archibald</strong> (West Mesa, 2024), <strong>Chris Loera</strong> (2023, Los Lunas), <strong>Jabulani Cooper</strong> (2023, Albuquerque) and <strong>David Mapalo</strong> (2022, Sandia).
