There are nine quarterbacks in the Top 100 and 24 quarterbacks overall for the Class of 2024 in Missouri in the Prep Redzone database, which continues to grow every day.
Today we are taking a closer look at the top quarterbacks. (Click on the player names to check out their prospect pages on PRZ, including links to their HUDL highlights.)
1. [player_tooltip player_id="185373" first="Elijah" last="Leonard"], Liberty North
Leonard, the No. 27 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2024, has the size (6-foot-4 and 215 pounds) and skill set to attract a lot of attention from Division I coaches but also is in the unique position of being on the same team as the top quarterback prospect in Missouri in the 2023 class, [player_tooltip player_id="172248" first="Sam" last="Van Dyne"].
Serving as the Eagles' backup quarterback, Leonard completed 67 percent of his passes for 211 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, and ran for 123 yards and five scores.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="126228" first="Beau" last="Dolan"], Ladue
Dolan, a 6-2, 190-pounder who checks in as the No. 38 prospect in Missouri in 2024, has already had plenty of snaps over his first two high school seasons while playing for one of the better programs in the state.
This fall, the left-hander completed 51 percent of his passes for 983 yards, with 12 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He also ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="126261" first="Grant" last="Gibson"], Fox
Gibson, a 6-2, 210-pounder, comes from a unique situation in that he's the quarterback of a program that doesn't throw the ball very often, but he still has traits and skills that make him an intriguing prospect as a passer.
Gibson completed 46 percent of his 85 pass attempts (in 10 games) for 669 yards, with six touchdowns and three interceptions. Directing Fox's run-heavy offense, he ran for 482 yards and a team-best seven touchdowns.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="130163" first="Antwon" last="McKay"], Cardinal Ritter
McKay, a 5-11, 165-pounder, split time with a senior this season on a talented Ritter squad with several playmaking weapons and will be a breakout candidate next fall if he takes over that job by himself.
He completed 62 percent of his passes for 762 yards, with nine touchdowns and zero interceptions — it's worth noting that Ritter's stats on STLhighschoolsports include two quarterbacks who 147 passes without any interceptions, so believe that if you want to – and two rushing touchdowns.
5. [player_tooltip player_id="126234" first="Taron" last="Peete"], Duchesne
Peete, a 5-10, 170-pounder, was Duchesne's starting quarterback as a freshman in 2020 but served as the backup as a sophomore after [player_tooltip player_id="103396" first="Josh" last="Baker-Mays"] transferred to Duchesne.
As a freshman, Peete threw for 914 yards, with 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and ran for 115 yards and four touchdowns. This fall, as a sophomore, he completed 66 percent of his passes (25 of 38) for 458 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. He ran for 73 yards and one touchdown.
