In the 2021 Houston high football season I’ve seen a lot of great teams, games and athletes. Out of all the games I been to this football season I’ll be naming the top athletes in each position. Based off the teams and games I’ve seen these are the top Houston area high school defensive specialists.

The Katy Tigers #7 [player_tooltip player_id="258583" first="Johnathan" last="Hall"] FS, SS So 6’2 200 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id="258583" first="Johnathan" last="Hall"] has a lot of stand out traits as a defensive free safety and strong safety. Johnathan was always aggressive, quick, decisive, and has great tackling form. From the games I have seen Johnathan as the safety moved up and would be the main person involved in the action. Johnathan despite being only a sophomore is already a college prospect having numerous college and universities offers from; Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University University of Arizona, Baylor University, Duke University, University of Houston, Purdue University and etc.

The Spring Lions #22 Darryl Doherty OLB, MLB Sr 5’10 195 lbs

A very aggressive and strong linebacker is Spring Lions Darryl Doherty. Darryl was all over the field blitzing, covering and tackling all night. Darryl was always an overwhelming threat against any team he played against. Darryl was very aware and was great at pursuing the ball. Darryl currently has two college offer from Louisiana College and North American University. Darryl’s stats this season was 82 overall tackles and one sack.

The Dickinson Gators #20 Jabari Ellison DB Jr 5’11 170 lbs

Jabari Ellison is a versatile defensive player. Jabari is a defensive back, but he can also line up as a defensive linebacker. Jabari shined at both position and applied equal aggressiveness to every tackle he executed. Jabari as linebacker was able to read offensive plays and stopped them as soon as they happened. Jabari as a defensive back properly covered his wide receiver and stopped a good lot of pass plays that came his way. Jabari is a great asset to The Dickinson Gators defense he’ll be a key player for them in his senior year of football.

The North Shore Mustangs #5 [player_tooltip player_id="136182" first="Jacoby" last="Davis"] DB Jr 5’11 170 lbs

There is a lot I can say about [player_tooltip player_id="136182" first="Jacoby" last="Davis"], but one thing for sure is he’s a stellar athlete. Jacoby was always stuck on his man allowing no separation between them. I rarely saw Jacoby allow any passes to come through. Jacoby made a ton of clutch during that led North Shore to becoming state champions. I’m not the only that noticed Jacoby’s talent he has a lot of college and university offers as a top prospect. Jacoby has offers from; Auburn University, University of Michigan, Mississippi State University, Baylor University, Texas A&M to name a few.

Katy Paetow Panthers #46 Alexander Kilgore ILB Jr 6’2 210 lbs

Alexander Kilgore is an impressive inside line backer. Alexander is strong, fast and decisive. Alexander had an amazing junior year of football. Alexander was always setting the tempo for Paetow and it was no easy feat to get pass him. Alexander was key in helping Katy Paetow becoming state champions this season. Alexander currently has four college and universities offer from Arkansas State University, University of Texas San Antonio, Prairie View A&M University and Southern Methodist University. Alexander’s overall stats this season was 116 overall tackles, 1 interception and 10 sacks.
