I have seen a ton of great upperclassmen and a good amount of underclassmen new to high school varsity football. Based off the teams and games I’ve seen this season these are the top Houston area high school freshman athletes.
Shadow Creek #1 Jacorey Watson QB, WR Fr 5’10 170 lbs
Jacorey Watson is a roundabout athlete. Jacorey’s speed is the real deal despite him being just a freshman no one keep up with his speed. Jacorey was very dangerous when he would get a pop up pass and zoom down the field. Even though Jacorey didn’t start or play every game this season he was still one of the few standout freshman. Jacorey will be an athlete to look out for in the next couple of years. Jacorey’s overall stats this season was seven games played 21 receptions with 243 receiving yards and one touchdown.
#15 North Shore Mustangs Kaleb Bailey Kaleb Bailey 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB North Shore | 2025 State TX QB Fr
Kaleb Bailey Kaleb Bailey 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB North Shore | 2025 State TX is a phenomenal quarterback. Kaleb is only a freshman and started as quarterback halfway through the season. Kaleb wasn’t afraid to scramble and run with the ball. Kaleb had great quick decision making and a great arm at that. Kaleb starting his freshman year and leading North Shore to a championship game and winning is a very big accomplishment. Kaleb has a lot of room to grow and by the end of his high school football career Kaleb will be a top college prospect and an outstanding athlete.
St. John Mavericks #23 Cole Allen WR, CB, FS Fr 5’10 180 lbs
I wasn’t expecting to see such a promising incoming freshman like Cole Allen at St. John’s High School. What I witnessed from Cole was incredible athletic prowess. Cole was extremely fast beating out everyone he came across. Cole was honestly the best athlete on St. John’s roster. I’m excited to keep up with Cole’s progress over the next few years. Cole’s overall stats this season was 18 carries with 210 rushing yards, 32 receptions with 447 receiving yards and 9 overall touchdowns.
Cy-Fair Bobcats #53 Landon Rink DT Fr 6’3 250 lbs
Freshman Landon Rink is a prominent defensive end. Even though Landon only played in four games this season all four of those games Landon made his presence known. Landon was a beast big and solid defensive tackle fast off the ball and powerful. Everything you want in a defensive tackle Landon has it. Landon was able to swim move or push and pull on an offensive lineman get pass him and get into the backfield. Landon is definitely a defensive linemen to look out for he’s going to be a big name and top college prospect in the next couple years. Landon’s overall stats this season was four games played 13 overall tackles and 2 sacks
The Stratford Spartans #6 Anderson Dinh FS, CB, WR Fr
One player I enjoyed watching from The Stratford Spartans was freshman Anderson Dinh. Anderson is a wide receiver and probably the fastest player on The Stratford Spartans roster. For this young man to be this quick and fast is still truly amazing to me. Anderson was running all over the field getting open for passes. Anderson also played cornerback and free safety on defense. Anderson being this skilled and versatile this early in his career will make him a promising standout in the next few years.
