Here, we take a look at some rising senior linemen ready to make an impact in 2022.
Shaun Shockley | 6’2 | Flowery Branch
Shockley is a mauler-style blocker who is not afraid of contact. In fact, he welcomes it. He is a head hunter and surveys the defense until he can find someone to knock over. Plays mostly tackle, but beyond high school. his future is likely on the inside. He has great lower body strength, which allows him to drive defenders out of the play and create gaping holes in the run game. Once he hones in on some pass blocking skills, his versatility and brute strength will make him a valuable player at the next level.
Skye Richardson | 6’5 | Blessed Trinity
Richardson is a quick and versatile blocker with a high ceiling. At 6’5 and weighing in around 275, he already has great size and still has plenty of room to fill out. On film, Richardson looks the part of a true tackle. He has great size and can move. Regardless, he still takes plenty of reps inside the tackles, as he is used to peel out and block. It is rare for players of his size to move the way he does, for that reason alone, he should be a hot commodity. When you add in his versatility and fundamentals, he has a bright future in football.
Parker Peterson | 6’7 | Alpharetta
At 6’7 and weighing in around 270, you would be foolish to not be at least intrigued by what Peterson has to offer. Peterson does not sacrifice any speed or mobility with his size. In fact, his athleticism and quickness is his most impressive attribute. Defenders on the edge find it hard to get by him, Peterson matches their speed with his own. He is also an attacking-style lineman. Instead of letting the game come to him, he sets the tone, which is possible when you are as athletically gifted as Peterson. Peterson has visited and camped at a few D1 schools, so the interest is there. Expect that interest to yield into offers soon.
Obadiah Obasuyi | 6’7 | Alpharetta
Obasuyi is raw, but that is expected for someone who has only played football for a few years. Regardless, the Nigerian native has plenty to like. For starters, he already has great size at 6’7 285. Once he learns how to use that size, he is going to be a dangerous player. To go along with that, he is also a great athlete. Is able to keep blockers in front of him using his speed and get downfield to be used as a lead blocker. He will have to clean up the fundamentals part of his game, but that is expected. Obasuyi is a tremendous athlete with length, so betting on his upside will be worth it to someone. Multiple D1 staffers follow Obasuyi, so he is at the very least already on the radar for plenty of programs.
Gabriel Forston | 6’4 | North Cobb Christian
Forston was a standout for North Cobb Christian this past season. Not only did he win region lineman of the year, but he also got work done on both sides of the ball. Forston lines up at center, and plays a crucial role in opening up the middle of the line of scrimmage. He does it by using violence and strength. At 6’4 and hovering around 300 pounds, he packs a punch with his stature and has a lot of lower body strength. This allows him to drive defenders out of the play. His strength and punch off the snap is his most impressive attribute, and it prevents defenders from getting any sort of separation. Forston is still under the radar, but that should change here soon.
