Christian Bentancur Christian Bentancur 6'5" | 240 lbs | TE Marian Central Catholic | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Bentancur was a new name to me heading into this fall season and man, his potential is very high. I got the chance to scout this young man’s game online where his team played in a shootout against Providence Catholic, the game went down to the final seconds. I was very impressed with his performance and after analyzing his full season highlights you get to see glimpses of what this young man is capable of. He’s projected as an X receiver at the next level, I can also see him being utilized as a receiving tight end as well depending on the college scheme he gets himself involved in. He works as an outside receiver where he can stack the defender and break the defender off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. This young man isn’t afraid to go up for 50/50 balls as he attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with the contested catch – both in single coverage and in double coverage. He’s a deep threat that uses his long catch radius to play above the rim and is a big redzone target. Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical where he keeps his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process. In the run game, he stalk blocks downfield where he latches on quickly and finishes through the whistle by driving the defensive back downfield. I believe during this off season this young man is going to bring some of his potential to light, upon doing so I look forward to seeing how he produces during his Junior Season campaign. Currently holds no offers, has some FBS interest. Highlights
Jackson McCarey Jackson McCarey 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH New Trier | 2024 IL Twitter
Mr. McCarey was a name that came onto my radar just before the fall season kicked off and one that had put his name on the map with his fall season performance as well as getting it done at recent showcases. He’s currently listed as an ATH where, I believe, he can play either halfback as well as defensive back at the next level. I believe he could also hold his own working as a slot reciever if need be as he’ll create a mismatch against the linebacker – potentially put him here in situational packages as he has a good foundation with his receiving skill set. At halfback, he has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and can find cutback lanes when the defense overpursues. In both instances, he burst through the line of scrimmage and showcases his next level gear by outrunning pursuit angles as well as blowing by 2nd level defenders. This young man uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner as well giving further insight into his next level gear and his ability to change gears quickly. Once he’s in open space, he weaves in and out of defenders generating net positive yards on the play. In the air attack, he can catch out of the backfield where he gets vertical upon securing the catch. I’m interested to see this young man get utilized further in this aspect of the offense as he has the skill set to make his impact felt. At defensive back, he uses his smooth and fluid transitions to stay with his man in coverage as it puts him in a position to make a play on the ball. That’s exactly what this young man does as he can either undercut the route to come away with the interception as well as get his hand in the receiver’s basket forcing a pass breakup. I’m looking forward to watching him compete during his Junior Season campaign as I believe he’s going to continue to hone his craft and make his impact felt on both sides of the ball. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Robert Battle Robert Battle 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB East St. Louis | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Battle was a name that came onto my radar just before the fall season started and one that I was very impressed with. I got the chance to scout this young man in person during the 6A IHSA State Championship as well as analyze his full season highlights and I have to say he’s in a position to become another household name coming out of East St. Louis. He’s projected as a dual threat quarterback that makes him impact felt both in the air attack as well as in the run game. What’s impressive to me is how elusive he is both when in the pocket as well as in open space when he’s scrambling. This young man navigates the pocket well where he can evade the pocket pressure before escaping, here he can do one of two things. The first is working out of platform as his upper/lower half work in unison where he keeps his eyes downfield to find an outlet keeping the chains moving. The second is pulling the ball down to scramble which is where he can make defenders miss showcasing his elusiveness. His mobility is one to keep an eye on as you can have good coverage downfield thinking you’re going to come away with a coverage sack, this young man has another idea. He’ll pull the ball down to scramble showcasing his next level gear while he outruns pursuit angles and blows by 2nd level defenders. When working in platform, he can get the ball off under pressure and adds a touch on the deep ball. This young man already showcased his ability to add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) which is going to be a skill set to watch moving forward. I believe he’s going to have a strong Junior Season campaign and I look forward to watching it happen. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Arthur Palicki Arthur Palicki 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Willowbrook | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Palicki was a new name to me this fall season and is a young man that has a lot of untapped potential yet to come to light. I got the chance to scout this young man in person during the playoffs and analyzed his full season highlights. Both of which he was a sight to see. He’s projected as a pro style quarterback that can pull the ball down to scramble if need be. What I like most about this young man is the way he navigates the pocket. When I scouted him in person, he kept his poise well when working in platform. Here, he would stay in the pocket while it was collapsing and get the ball off under pressure into tight windows. When working out of platform, he keeps his eyes downfield after he gets flushed out of the pocket where his upper/lower half work in unison when throwing on the run. If nothing is open downfield, he can pull the ball down to scramble as a last resort. Upon doing so, he isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder while he weaves in and out of defenders in open space. What’s going to be a trait to keep an eye on is his ability to add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3). I believe this young man is set up to have a strong Junior Season campaign and I look forward to seeing him compete. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Michael Champagne Michael Champagne 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Glenbard South | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Champagne was a name that got onto my radar right before the fall season after we did our previous rankings update. I wasn’t able to scout this young man in person but I was able to analyze his full season highlights and compare it to his previous season to see his growth. He’s projected as a dual threat quarterback at the next level where his impact is felt in both the air and ground attack. When he’s working in platform, he navigates the pocket well as he keeps his eyes downfield and gets the ball off under pressure. When working out of platform, he escapes pocket pressure and makes the throw on the run to keep the chains moving with his upper/lower half working in unison. This young man can add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) and can add zip on the ball as well. This young man has mobility to him which is showcased when he runs the option as well as when pulling the ball down to scramble if nothing is open downfield. Upon doing so, he showcases his ability to change gears quickly while weaving in and out of defenders in open space. This goes hand in hand when he runs RPOs as his legs are a threat to the opposing defense which opens up passing lanes. When he runs RPOs, he can get the ball out quickly as well. I believe this young man is primed to have a standout Junior Season campaign, upon doing so I expect his interest from the next level to pick up as well. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Jason Penza Jason Penza 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Crystal Lake Central | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Penza was a new name to me this fall season and one that was very impressive working as a 1-2 punch at wideout with standout Jacob Carnrite Jacob Carnrite 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Crystal Lake Central | 2022 State IL . He’s projected as an X receiver at the next level that can work one on one. This young man lined up in the slot creating a mismatch against the linebacker as well as lining up outside getting one on one coverage. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses his step advantage to stack the defender before breaking the defender off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. If you give him a free release, he can win over the top with his speed and upon doing so can attack the ball at the highest point to come away with the connected catch. When he runs jet sweeps, he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner showcasing his ability to change his gears quickly. Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical quickly gaining extra yards after the catch. In the return game, this young man weaves in and out of defenders setting his team up in good starting field position as well as having the ability to return them for touchdowns. What I’m interested in seeing out of this young man during his Junior Season campaign is how he’s going to build upon his Sophomore Season performance and how he’s going to develop during this off season. I believe he has the potential to become a true X receiver as he has a good foundational skill set already. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Randall Nauden Randall Nauden 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Brother Rice | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Nauden was a name that came onto my radar right before the fall season took place and one that I believe is going to be a name to know moving forward. I got a chance to scout part of his games last season but sadly wasn’t able to do so this season, I was however able to analyze his full season highlights and see his growth. This young man is projected as a balanced back at the next level, I believe he has the potential to become a three down back. He has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and bursts through the line of scrimmage upon doing so. If the defense overpursues, this young man can find the cutback lane and hits it using a quick cut. Once he clears the first level of defenders, he uses his next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. What I’m interested in seeing out of this young man is where his pass catching skill set is going to be when his Junior Season starts up. With him changing schools and playing in a different style of offense, it’s going to be something to keep an eye on. I believe he has a lot of untapped potential yet to come to light, with there being a full off season I look forward to seeing how he develops. Highlights
Maverick Ohle Maverick Ohle 6'2" | 245 lbs | DL Naperville Central | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Ohle was a name that came onto my radar right before the fall season started. I got the chance to scout this young man in person during a playoff game as well as analyze his full season highlights. He’s projected as a 7 tech defensive end at the next level and can work out of a 3 tech as well as a 4i tech. In run support, works gap to gap where he disengages blocks to make the tackle at/near the line of scrimmage for no/little gain on the play. When he shoots gaps and slips blocks he can either meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage for no gain or can disrupt plays on the backfield off the penetration he generates coming away with the tackle for loss. On passing downs, he uses his quick first step to close space between him and the offensive tackle before using his hands at the point of attack to bat hands down. This in turn allows him to turn the corner and generate pressure on the quarterback. I believe the best is yet to come out of this edge rusher, he has a good foundation already built and can make his impact felt in big games. Keep an eye on this young man, he has a high ceiling. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Matthew Crider Matthew Crider 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Wheaton Warrenville South | 2024 IL Twitter
Mr. Crider was a new name to me heading into this fall season and one that I was keeping my eye on ever since he came onto my radar when I was scouting one of his games online during his fall season. He’s projected as a balanced back at the next level that has a solid mix between speed and power. He has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and can bounce plays outside where he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner. If the defense overpursues frontside, he can hit the cutback lane with a quick cut generating net positive yards on the play. Upon securing the handoff, he gets vertical quickly where he bursts through the line of scrimmage. Here, he mixes in speed and power. His speed is showcased when he changes his gears quickly to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by the 2nd level defenders at times. His power is showcased when he keeps his feet driving and breaks weak arm tackles while he maintains a low center of gravity. What I’m most interested to see out of this young man is how he develops during this off season and where his pass catching skill set is at as well. He has a high upside with untapped potential yet to come to light, I look forward to seeing how he competes during these next two seasons. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Anthony Hood Anthony Hood 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Whitney Young | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Hood was a new name to me during this fall season and one that I believe has a high ceiling. I got the chance to scout this young man in person during the regular season and I was impressed. He’s projected as an X reciever at the next level and has a high upside. I believe this young man has a lot of potential and has already built a good foundation to build upon. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage where he uses his step advantage to stack the defender before breaking the defender off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. On deep shots downfield, he isn’t afraid to go up for 50/50 balls where he attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches. If you give this young man a free release he can win over the top with his speed and if you try to press he showcased glimpses of his ability to use quick feet to stack the defender quickly – a trait to keep an eye on moving forward. During the quarterback scramble drill, he can get himself open to become an outlet downfield and when he comes out of his breaks he works back towards the ball. Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical quickly where he then can change gears quickly gaining extra yards on the play. A young man to keep an eye on moving forward. Currently holds no offers.
