The 2024 QB class is loaded in Georgia. Here, we look at the members of that QB class who are set to become breakout stars.
Gavin Hall | 6’0 | Hebron Christian
I had the pleasure of watching Hall in the recent GACA all-star game, and I came away very impressed. He flashed his playmaking ability and creativity with his legs. When the play breaks down, he is able to keep things alive with his scrambling ability. In the open field, he is extremely twitchy and has some serious make-miss ability. He has a laser for an arm and can place the ball in tight windows. Naturally, he can also throw on the run well. Hall is a playmaking machine, and should have a big junior year with continued growth.
Christopher Martin Christopher Martin 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Tift County | 2024 State GA | 6’1 | Lee County
Martin started on varsity this past season for an 11 win team, so he has already broken out on the regional scale. But nationally? He could be someone to watch as he heads into the latter half of his HS career. Martin stands tall in the pocket and can put some serious spin on the football. He is able to mix up arm angles and throw off different platforms, which allows him to place the ball in tight windows. What is most impressive is his touch on the deep ball. Keep an eye out for Martin next season.
Preston Clemmer | 6’1 | Cambridge
Clemmer is an athletic QB who has some serious upside. Was used a lot on varsity this past season in the short-yardage run game. Is also a big-time track runner, and you can see how that translates to the gridiron. Clemmer can throw on the run with ease, and almost looks more comfortable out of the pocket than he does inside the pocket, he is a playmaker. He is able to put the ball in tight windows, but really excels on those touch throws. With the QB ahead of him graduating, the door is open to blow onto the scene.
Bryce Clavon | 6’0 | Dutchtown
Clavon is a standout on the baseball diamond, and is actually committed to Oklahoma for that sport. Still, he looks the part of a high-profile football prospect as well. First off, Clavon has some big-time speed. Once he gets to the second level, it is game over for the entire defense. As a passer, he has a lightning-quick release, and the ball flies out of his hand. Clavon has an absolute rocket, and there is not a throw on the field that he can’t make. Baseball might be in his future, but that does not mean football can’t be too.
KJ Smith | 5’11 | Roswell
Smith will be next in line to take over for the late Robbie Roper Robbie Roper 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Roswell | 2022 State GA at Roswell. With that comes added pressure, but Smith performs well under that. He is as composed and confident as QBs at this age get. The moment is never too big for him, and it seems as if the game moves in slow motion at times. Smith stands tall in the pocket and goes through all of his reads before making a decision with the ball. He is best in the short and intermediate game where he can pick apart defenses with his strong arm and by mixing up his arm angles. He is also able to lay the ball up for some beautiful touch passes. Not a run-first QB, but is plenty fast enough to do damage with his legs if needed. Watch out for Smith this upcoming season.
