Here, we take a look at some rising seniors in Metro Atlanta that get it done on offense and defense.
Matthew Traynor | QB/FS | 6’2 | Sequoyah
It is not often you see someone go out and lead a team at QB and then turn around and make some huge hits as a safety, but that is exactly what Traynor does. As a QB, he flashes some serious speed and is able to make people miss in space. To go along with that, he can throw off the run and off-platform with ease. On defense, he plays with tons of energy and can come downfield hard to make some serious hits on the ball carrier. He also has some nice ball skills on the second level. Wherever you put him, he has both the ability and mindset to make plays, and that is proven by his film.
Che Ojarikre | WR/CB | 6’2 | Denmark
We have previously written about Ojarikre’s playmaking ability on the defensive side of the ball, but he gets it done at receiver. On offense, he eats up grass with his long strides and is able to create separation. Once he gets the ball in space, he has enough top-end speed to run away from the rest of the defense. That length translates to the defensive side of the ball, where he is a disruptive press corner with the ability to run with anyone. On defense, he is also big and physical enough to play closer to the line of scrimmage if he wishes to do so. Watch out for Ojarikre as the 2022 year progresses.
Caden High | 5’10 | WR/DB | 5’10 | Grayson
A speedy athlete that makes an impact on offense, defense, and special teams. His track-level speed allows him to be an efficient return man, which means he is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Once he gets space from a defender, game over. On defense, he is seemingly always in the right place at the right time. He is able to come down-field and make plays on the ball. All in all, his speed makes him a matchup problem regardless of where you put him on the field. That versatility should draw plenty of attention over the next year.
Logan Curry | 6’2 | RB/WR/S | North Forsyth
Curry lines up all over the field for NFHS, and is a playmaking threat at every spot. On offense, he is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. At RB, he runs behind his pads and fights for extra yards. His speed and ability to make people miss in space translates to his play at both WR and RB. Just get Curry the ball and he will go to work. On defense, his ability to run sideline to sideline and keep the defense in front of him makes him a great roaming safety. With his larger size, he is also able to line up closer to the line of scrimmage if needed. Curry is a versatile athlete with all the tools, including elite speed.
Nathan Efobi Nathan Efobi 6'4" | 285 lbs | DL South Forsyth | 2023 State GA | DT/OL | 6’4 | South Forsyth
Efobi is receiving some serious D1 football buzz. After watching his film, I see why. On the offensive line, he carves open holes in the run game and has enough speed to track down faster defenders in the next level. On defense, he is extremely explosive off the line of scrimmage and plays with a great motor. When you have a big guy as athletic as him, you are going to garner plenty of attention. His relentless effort and motor only make him even more sought after.
