2022 Rankings Stock-Risers: Defensive Backs

This group of defensive backs has a lot of family ties to the sport, and it shows. Each of these defensive backs has the talent and skill to take them far. Already, they have made waves this season which has elevated their status in Prep Redzone TX’s rankings, and in recruitment. 1. [player_tooltip player_id="60766" first="Terrance" last="Brooks"] - Little Elm High School (Little Elm, TX) Brooks signed with the Texas Longhorns on Dec. 15, but also received a total of 40 offers. This includes big-name schools like Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, and Oregon. It is safe to say that Brooks had an incredible performance for his senior year. He is a ballhawk by nature and has incredible speed and agility. He is also excellent on pass coverage and is especially lethal in the zone. Brooks is an all-around elite defensive back, and what many in high school aim to strive for. 2. [player_tooltip player_id="60758" first="Bobby" last="Taylor"] - Katy High School (Katy, TX) Being the son of a former Notre Dame and NFL defensive back, there is pressure on Taylor’s shoulders to continue that legacy. After this season, he seems to be doing that just fine. He signed with Texas A&M on Dec. 15. However, he also had some big-name offers including Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, and Baylor. Much like Brooks, Taylor is also excellent in coverage whether it is man or zone. He is an opportunist and never misses a chance to create a turnover. Taylor has excellent awareness on the field as well as play recognition. He is amongst the best for a reason. 3. [player_tooltip player_id="60750" first="Cristian" last="Driver"] - Liberty Christian High School (Argyle, TX) Another defensive back with a large number of offers, Driver signed with Penn State on Dec. 15. He also received an offer from Alabama. He, too, has a family history in the sport with his father, Donald Driver, being a three-time Pro Bowl receiver for Green Bay. [player_tooltip player_id="60750" first="Cristian" last="Driver"] has played both in the defensive back and wide receiver spot. Because of this, he has a lot of speed and excellent hands. He also has the knowledge, as a receiver, to help him better with his defensive play. [player_tooltip player_id="60750" first="Cristian" last="Driver"] has a lot of potential and should be exciting to watch on the Nittany Lions. 4. [player_tooltip player_id="133195" first="Mohammed" last="Bility"] - North Dallas High School (Dallas, TX) Bility committed to Rice on Nov. 30 and has received offers from Pennsylvania and Texas Southern. Judging from his tape, Bility has fantastic speed and can keep up with just about any receiver in man coverage. Bility also has great ability in either getting an interception or deflecting the pass. He always seems to be a step ahead of the receiver and is a hassle to throw against. 5. [player_tooltip player_id="60741" first="Julian" last="Humphrey"] - Clear Lake High School (Houston, TX) Humphrey also comes with a family history in the sport. His brother, John Humphrey is a former Nevada and Arizona State receiver. However, for [player_tooltip player_id="60741" first="Julian" last="Humphrey"], he is on his way to the now national champions Georgia Bulldogs. He signed with Georgia on Dec. 15 but also received offers from Florida, Alabama, Arizona State, and Arkansas. Humprey has fantastic awareness on the field and uses that skill to take on any opportunity to create turnovers. He also has incredible speed and can run circles around the offense when he gets an interception. On top of that, he is also excellent at tackling and can make tackles in the open field with ease.
