The Westlake offense was the main highlight from the game, especially in the passing game. Given how Westlake played against a tough team, there is almost no chance that the Chaparrals can be stopped.
1. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 310 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns
Not surprisingly, Klubnik had another solid outing. Game after game, he continues to shine brighter and brighter, especially with the added pressure he has on his shoulders with each win in the playoffs. Even still, he makes little to no mistakes. Klubnik is not only ready for the next level, but now Westlake has a chance for another state title thanks in part to his skill and talent.
2. Jack Kayser (SO-RB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 141 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown
While Westlake’s passing game is often looked at solely, Kayser showcased that he, too, has great talent. The sophomore class is filled with talented running backs and Kayser is easily amongst them.
3. Pierce Turner (SR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 5 receptions, 103 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Turner not only showcases the necessary skills for a receiver to be talented but he also showed how tough he is to tackle. Speed and route-running are standard for a receiver to be elite but Turner also adds to that with him being nearly impossible to take down. He can bounce off and break tackles from multiple defenders and thus he truly adds up his yards after the catch.
4. Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Austin Westlake | 2023 State TX (JR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 6 receptions, 85 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
Much is the same for Greathouse. Throughout the season, he has displayed his athleticism and power. He is able to keep up with the stronger defensive backs especially when making tough catches in traffic. Klubnik has an excellent group of receivers with whom he has great chemistry.
5. Keaton Kubecka Keaton Kubecka 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Westlake | 2023 State TX (JR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 5 receptions, 78 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
That also includes Kubecka. For him, he makes an excellent slot receiver and is perfect to go to when in scoring position. Kubecka’s route-running is tight and he can shake coverage easily. He, too, is another piece as to why Westlake has been unstoppable this season.
