Everybody listed below balled out this year and left it all on the field for their last run. Every name on this list has a future in football and have proved to be leaders and players who can bring positive things to any program.
Kendrick Bradley Kendrick Bradley 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Klein Forest | 2022 State TX – Klein Forest
180 Carries – 1,652 Rushing Yards – 19 Rushing TDs
Bradley’s vision was one of his best attributes that he displayed during the season. His ability to see open lanes in a snap made running for large gains fairly easy. Bradley showed breakaway speed and was a nightmare for defenses to bring down. His combination of strength and speed made him a top back in the city and he is a player who definitely can play at the next level.
Jalen Washington – Montgomery
278 Carries – 2,281 Rushing Yards – 31 Rushing TDs
Washington is a special talent who had an incredible senior season. You want to talk about a playmaker and an all out baller? Washington is your guy. His quickness and ability to change direction makes him a threat and every time the ball was in his possession, there was a chance that he may score. Washington showed that he can lower the shoulder as well and deliver the blow rather than take it. The film does not lie, this young man gets the job done.
Jacob Brown – Paetow
159 Carries – 1,558 Rushing Yards – 27 Rushing TDs
Brown’s senior season was limited due to injury, but he did not miss a step in his return. Brown exploded in the playoffs and made people remember who he was. The physical downhill running and the speed to outrun a defense is superb. Brown displays much power and the vision to see the big lanes open up, and he can wear a defense out. Brown is a player who seems to get better after every carry. He brought home the Offensive Player of the Game in the State Championship win where he was outstanding in a hard fought battle. The offers should start to pour in for this young man.
Ramir McCray Ramir McCray 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Klein Oak | 2022 State TX – Klein Cain
192 Carries – 1,362 Rushing Yards – 18 Rushing TDs
McCray was asked to make the change from linebacker to running back and he honestly thrived with the change. An unselfish player, McCray did what he was asked and just balled out. He was a powerful runner and a workhorse who did not mind shouldering the weight. McCray showed that he was an athlete on the field and could run through or around you. He showed good speed and agility, cutting through small lanes. McCray played a major role in the teams success this year and made a name for himself.
Jerrell Wimbley – C.E. King
226 Carries – 2,018 Rushing Yards – 25 Rushing TDs
Wimbley was on one for his senior season. He was one of the hardest backs to take down and even when defenses knew he was getting the ball, they could not stop him. Wimbley showed great strength when running the ball and showed very good elusiveness at times. The vision was there and the burst between the running lanes made him that much harder to stop. All season long Wimbley put up the numbers and his play on the field made him a familiar name in the city.
Torrie Curry II – Summer Creek
193 Carries – 1,386 Rushing Yards – 24 Rushing TDs
Do not let Curry’s size fool you, because the young man can flat out ball. The quickness and ability to make defenders miss is top tier. Curry is deadly in space and will leave a defense in the dust. He showed great acceleration and his intimal burst after receiving the handoff will leave defenders clueless of where the ball is. Curry displayed good hands out of the backfield as well and if he gets t the outside in open field, he is one of the hardest backs to bring down.
Tyras Winfield – Atascocita
Winfield was outstanding this season and was a valuable piece in the Eagles offense. He did so much for the team and was a key piece to their success. Winfield was a chain mover, and safety net for a young quarterback, and let his play do all of the talking. Winfield showed excellent wiggle, strength, and vision. He was an all around athlete. Winfield lined up in the slot and caught passes out of the backfield with ease, and powered his way for a touchdown or first when the team needed it the most. He is a back that any program would be lucky enough to get. Winfield is a fantastic talent who can provide much skill anywhere he is given a chance.
Cameron King – Cy Park
82 Carries – 1,079 Rushing Yards – 15 Rushing TDs
King played like a flash of lightning. Speed kills and he destroyed defenses with his. When King saw open space, nobody was going to catch him. He was a homerun hitter and made it look easy with the ball in his possession. King was elusive and did most of his damage on cutback runs where he just outran everyone on the field.
Xavier Owens Jr. – North Shore
Owens Jr. was another reliable back who stepped up in big moments. An excellent back who is elusive in space but can also bring the boom when needed. Owens Jr. was looked upon to lead an offense with young quarterback play and he stepped up to the challenge. An overall extremely talented back who can do just about anything and a state champion at that!
D’Koreion Hammond – C.E. King
124 Carries – 1,264 Rushing Yards – 15 Rushing TDs
Hammond was part of the 1-2 punch C.E. King had on offense and he was just as good as Wimbley. The burst that he showed was top notch and when he got a head of steam, he was difficult to stop. The two backs would take turns beating up on defenses and Hammond never let up. He had an excellent senior year and displayed much of his running ability such as his physicality and acceleration.
De’monte’ Seymore – Manvel
177 Carries – 1,729 Rushing Yards – 27 Rushing TDs
Seymore made it look easy with the ball in his hands. He ran with physicality and with purpose, and a mindset of scoring every time. His balance and ability to finish off runs made him a top back not only in the area, but in the sate as well. Seymore showed insane quickness and top end speed combined with power. The numbers he put up were ridiculous and his skills backed up those numbers.
