Over the weekend in West Colombia, the Texas Jackboyzz held their auditions for their 7v7 team. There was plenty of talent and competition amongst the 15U and here we take a closer look at some of the standouts. Texas Jackboyzz will be traveling across the state and nationally to compete this offseason.
QB Major Marshall | 2024 | West Colombia
On a windy afternoon, Major Marshall had some zip on his passes. His clean footwork and quick release were on display during the 1 on 1 session. Throwing against the wind a lot of times, Marshall still had the proper ball placement while still pushing the football down the field. His deep ball came out with zip and a tight spiral. Marshall isn’t the biggest prospect out there, which is why his arm strength is as impressive as it is. Coming off a successful season on JV, Marshall hasn’t lost a step, looking technically sound, and was on the money all afternoon long.
DE\TE Cade Lamb | 2024 | West Colombia
In 7v7 you typically won’t find any defensive linemen out there, but Cade Lamb stood out from the pack on Sunday. Coming off a monster varsity season with 9 sacks, Lamb put his athleticism on display. Lamb has smooth footwork and is light on his feet. His TE skills came out in the 1 on 1 period where he was physical and smooth while hauling in passes. Lamb is a true competitor that gets the job done regardless of where you place him on the field. Although tight end may be his secondary position, it will only help him become a more athletic and well-rounded player.
WR Adeyemi Oluwatosin | 2024 | Katy Taylor
When Adeyemi Oluwatosin lined up to run his routes, eyes were glued to him. From snap to whistle his technique was crisp and he was getting open consistently. Not only does he have technical prowess, but he also has serious speed. Oluwatosin wins early in the route and doesn’t just rely on his pure speed. His routes are explosive, comes out his breaks with acceleration and catches everything thrown his way. Oluwatosin is your ideal slot with great speed, control, and separation skills. College coaches will love the approach he has on his routes as well as athletic traits.
WR\LB Blake Osteen | 2024 | West Colombia
Blake Osteen has great size and solid ball skills and came to compete. He impresses on the vertical route tree and he thrives on the jump ball. Osteen showed body control on higher thrown balls and did a good job hauling them in. Osteen has good speed and can jump with the best of them. Standing around the 6-foot mark, he has the size to play receiver and linebacker, making him a versatile piece that can be used anywhere on the field. He’s a physical route runner and attacks the football, which is exactly what you want to see from a guy with his frame.
