The 2023 Rankings were posted recently! Our staff has plenty of analysis on the way to complement the release! Quickly, though, below is a simple look at the names of defensive players who were added in this update: Troy…
He may play some defensive end down the road, but the big outside linebacker is one of the top overall defenders in the Savannah area. He’s strong, thick, and has plenty of athleticism in his 6-foot-2 235-pound frame. He’s physical as a defender and knows how to get after the passer off the edge. He’s one of the top overall defenders in the region and he shot up the Prep Redzone rankings in the latest update. Ford made 51 tackles this fall with four sacks and two fumble recoveries.
One of the top 2023 linebackers in Gwinnett County, Godfrey has great bloodlines as his father used to play for the Georgia Bulldogs back in the day. Now it’s Grant’s turn to make a name for himself, and that’s exactly what he did after a big junior season this fall. The 6-foot-3 200-pounder has made 68 total tackles this year and 10 TFLs. He’s also made six sacks this year and one INT. He shows impressive athleticism, overall instincts, and he knows how to wrap up properly. He’s another impressive Gwinnett County linebacker to know in the 2023 class.
The Saints have one of the best defensive lines across the peach state, and Green is one of the best they have. He was one of the hottest prospects back in the summer, earning recent offers from Georgia Tech, Memphis, Pittsburgh, Arkansas State, Western Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee State. He’s not the biggest defensive end at just 6-foot-5 215-pounds, but he’s long, athletic, and made a big impact this season, helping lead Cedar Grove to another state championship. His speed alone makes him a terror off the edge and he was able to get to the QB with ease. As he continues to add more strength and muscle, while keeping his speed and athleticism, Green could turn into one of the top edge defenders in the state for the 2023 class.
He may play in Single A private, but make no mistake, Luttrell is one of the top playmakers not only in Gwinnett County, but in all of metro-Atlanta. The 6-foot-1 185-pounder from Dacula is a versatile athlete who makes plays on both sides of the ball as a receiver and a defensive back. As a junior this fall year, Luttrell proved that he was one of the top defensive backs in the region, picking off three passes and making big tackles against the run. Luttrell is verbally committed to Tennessee and will be one of the top returning two-way players in the area next fall.
