While the matchups we have listed below are not the only state championship games this upcoming weekend, we felt that they were worth noting. Within these matchups are plenty of prospects that we suggest to keep an eye on, and that we feel are worth a watch beforehand. These very players may be the very difference between their team’s potential to win, or lose, and because of that, we also have no doubt that college coaches will be tuning in to see what their top prospects, or commits are able to achieve. Below, feel free to take a look at some of our favorite matchups this week. It has all come down to this!
Collins Hill vs Milton
While many people think that it is certain destiny that Collins Hill will get the state championship win this time around, we here at PrepRedzone think that this matchup will be a bit closer than most people may think. Impressively enough, when you look at the points that each team has allowed this season, Collins Hill has proven to have a bit of a stronger defense, only allowing 75 points, to Milton’s 279. On the other side of things, one can also speak on Milton’s explosive offense, as they have put up 604 points this year, to Collins Hill’s 534. While everyone speaks on Collins Hill’s offense, and players such as [player_tooltip player_id="33893" first="Sam" last="Horn"], [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"], [player_tooltip player_id="220719" first="Ethan" last="Davis"], Cam Pedro, and Ryan Stephens, it should also be noted that Milton has some studs on the offensive side of the ball as well. This year, players such as [player_tooltip player_id="33880" first="Jack" last="Nickel"], Jordan Farrell, as well as [player_tooltip player_id="95164" first="Jordan" last="McDonald"], and [player_tooltip player_id="137437" first="Debron" last="Gatling"] have done more than run the numbers up for the offense, as they have kept defenses on their toes all season. While both team’s offenses have been impressive, it is also important to name a few defensive studs who you should keep an eye on this week. This includes the likes of [player_tooltip player_id="94016" first="Christian" last="Harris"], Asani Redwood, [player_tooltip player_id="71313" first="Lebbeus" last="Overton"], DJ Oates, and Maurice Clipper. As this weekend draws closer and closer, we have gotten even more excited to see what happens between these two teams, as it will be set to be one of the better state championship matchups that the state has seen in a while.
Buford vs Langston Hughes
Both of these teams are not only very deserving of the opportunity to play in the state championship, but both of them have had big time playmakers step up for them throughout the season. For example, Buford has had players like [player_tooltip player_id="95444" first="Isaiah" last="Bond"], [player_tooltip player_id="224867" first="Ashton" last="Daniels"], [player_tooltip player_id="95443" first="Victor" last="Venn"], [player_tooltip player_id="95467" first="Ryland" last="Gandy"], and [player_tooltip player_id="95469" first="Malik" last="Spencer"] ball out on both sides of the ball. This star studded matchup also witnesses players such as [player_tooltip player_id="33872" first="Antonio" last="Martin"], [player_tooltip player_id="34023" first="Terrance" last="Love"], CJ Lockhart, and [player_tooltip player_id="137477" first="Prentiss" last="Noland"], who have helped carry Langston Hughes this season on both sides of the ball. In this game, it should be interesting to see the matchups on both sides of the ball, as both teams have held opposing teams to limited points this season. This year, Buford has held opposing teams to only 90 points, while Langston Hughes have held opposing teams to 125. With this, the high flying offense of Hughes has put up 552 points, to Buford’s 497. With this being said, this game should be an interesting matchup on all fronts.
Calhoun vs Warner Robins
We are very excited to see the very interesting matchup between Calhoun and Warner Robins this upcoming weekend. This is due to the fact that both teams not only have a very impressive record entering into this game, but because both teams have well balanced offense’s and defenses. To start, Calhoun enters this game 12-2, and Warner Robins sits at 13-1 for this season so far. To be specific, Calhoun has only lost to teams such as McCallie, and Cartersville, while Warner Robins has only fallen to Ware County in a one score game. Perhaps the biggest differences in this matchup is that of the offenses, in which Calhoun has a listed 678 points for so far this season, to Warner Robins 529. This high flying offense can be a game changer in a year in which Calhoun has held teams to a total of 265 points this year, compared to Warner Robins 260. Nevertheless, in the game of football, any game can be your game, and because of this, we are stoked to witness this matchup this week.
