Leesville Rd. v. Rolesville Defensive Highlights

I was on the sidelines for the fourth-round playoff game between Leesville Rd. HS and Rolesville HS.  I was looking forward to observing Leesville’s tough defensive unit against Rolesville’s high-scoring offensive unit.  The listed players’ performances were outstanding throughout the game. <strong>Tyler Lassiter, LB, 6’3" 215, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Tyler displayed good lateral movement and quickness to close in on the ball carrier to make the stop.  He displayed good technique and use of hands on the tackles.  Tyler Lassiter finished with 9 total tackles, 2 tackles for losses. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28646" first="Beau" last="Atkinson"], DE, 6’6" 235, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Beau displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers to move past them to stop the play.  He displayed good technique and use of hands on the tackles.  [player_tooltip player_id="28646" first="Beau" last="Atkinson"] was making an impact before leaving the game due to an injury in the first half. <strong>Jacob Lail, LB, 5’8" 175, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Jacob displayed speed and quickness to cover ground quickly to stop the ball carrier.  He displayed good reaction to the ball and play.  Jacob Lail plays at a high-energy level and finished with 10 total tackles, 2 tackles for losses. <strong>Dylan Cosey, MLB, 6’2" 205, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Dylan read the plays and quickly reacted to stop the ball carrier.  He displayed good lateral movement and speed to cover ground quickly.  Dylan Cosey displayed good technique on tackles, finishing with 4 total tackles, 2 tackles for losses. <strong>Nasir Winston, DB, 6’0" 185, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Nasir displayed good reaction to the ball and closed quickly to stop the ball carrier.  He displayed good technique and use of hands knocking down passes thrown to the wide receivers.  Nasir Winston finished the game with 7 total tackles. <strong>Xavier Lewis, DL, 6’1" 220, Leesville Rd. HS</strong>.  Xavier displayed good footwork and use of hands to control blockers to make the stop.  He displayed good technique and strength to move past blockers into the backfield.  Xavier Lewis finished with 8 total tackles, 2 tackles for losses. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141375" first="Jacorrey" last="Bible"], LB, 6’3" 190, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Jacorrey read the plays and reacted quickly to stop the ball carrier.  He displayed good lateral movement and speed to cover ground quickly.  [player_tooltip player_id="141375" first="Jacorrey" last="Bible"] is a very active player who made several solo tackles and assisted on several tackles. <strong>Carsten Casady, DE, 6’6" 270, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Carsten was quick out of his stance to make contact with blockers to stop the play.  He displayed good technique and strength to overpower blockers in the trenches.  Carsten Casady displayed good use of hands and was difficult to defend throughout the game, applying constant pressure in the backfield. <strong>Sterling Elliot, MLB, 5’10" 200, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Sterling displayed good lateral movement and quickness to close on the ball carrier for the stop.  He displayed good reaction to the play and cover ground quickly.  Sterling Elliot plays at a high-energy level and made several solo tackles. <strong>Ishawn Shoulars, DE, 6’2" 230, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Ishawn displayed good lateral movement and speed to close quickly on the ball carrier for the stop.  He displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers to move past them into the backfield.  Ishawn Shoulars used his strength and quickness to overpower blockers and was difficult to defend throughout the game, making solo tackles and assisted on tackles. <strong>Aiden Pounds, LB, 5’9" 200, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Aiden displayed good lateral movement and speed to close quickly on the ball carrier.  He displayed good technique and use of hands on the tackles.  Aiden Pounds is a talented young player who is getting better as he gains valuable playing experience.
