SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
DIVISION 1–AA
Cathedral Catholic vs. Orange Lutheran
Analysis: Cathedral Catholic dominated the San Diego Section this season. [player_tooltip player_id="141906" first="Lucky" last="Sutton"] is a very good running back and [player_tooltip player_id="141935" first="Charlie" last="Mirer"] is a good enough quarterback to avoid mistakes and turning the ball over. Orange Lutheran’s [player_tooltip player_id="25295" first="Logan" last="Gonzalez"] is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the state. The Lancers have a well-rounded offense with Desmin Jackson, [player_tooltip player_id="187260" first="Malik" last="Blackmon"] and Jaylen Lynch. Orange Lutheran is young on defense and I think Sutton may have a big game. Cathedral Catholic is 1-1 against Southern Section teams this season and [player_tooltip player_id="25320" first="Jaxson" last="Moi"] will be the best player on the field.
The pick: Orange Lutheran

DIVISION 1–A
Long Beach Poly at Serra
Analysis: Poly blew through the Division 4 playoffs. Serra dominated its Division 3 championship game against Apple Valley. Long Beach Poly has the star power with running back Devin Samples, quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="25344" first="Shea" last="Kuykendall"] and defenders [player_tooltip player_id="141923" first="Donovan" last="Poe"], [player_tooltip player_id="142004" first="Wendell" last="Moe"], Jalen Johnson, and [player_tooltip player_id="144960" first="Daylen" last="Austin"]. Serra has Texas commit quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="25228" first="Maalik" last="Murphy"] and great running back [player_tooltip player_id="147716" first="Cincere" last="Rhaney"]. Serra beat Poly by one point in the season opener this season. Poly has figured out its identity since then.

DIVISION 2–AA
Helix at Mater Dei Catholic
Analysis: Two of the top four teams in San Diego are in this game. Helix played well against Lincoln to win the Division 1 championship. [player_tooltip player_id="25345" first="Christian" last="Washington"] is a huge playmaker and [player_tooltip player_id="115450" first="Ryland" last="Jessee"] spreads the ball around well. Mater Dei Catholic has an elite offense with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="145214" first="Dominic" last="Nankil"] and receivers [player_tooltip player_id="145133" first="Jeremiah" last="McClure"], Cruz Estrada and [player_tooltip player_id="145192" first="Surahz" last="Buncom"]. Helix has played a harder schedule with games against Cathedral Catholic, Servite and Mission Viejo.
The pick: Helix

DIVISION 3–AA
Newport Harbor at Aquinas
Analysis: Newport Harbor had a nice comeback win against Temecula Valley last week. AJ Guitron-Moore has turned into a nice quarterback. [player_tooltip player_id="147761" first="Josiah" last="Lamarque"] and [player_tooltip player_id="145263" first="Kashton" last="Henjum"] are receivers that can hang with anybody and [player_tooltip player_id="148989" first="Carson" last="De Avila"] is a star on defense. Aquinas wants to establish the run and they can do so with freshman running back Jusyis Solis. Aquinas has played a better schedule but Newport Harbor is in a higher division.
The pick: Aquinas

DIVISION 3–A
Birmingham at Patrick Henry
Analysis: Birmingham is the LA City Section Open Division champion. Patrick Henry got a nice win over University City down in San Diego to win a championship. Elijaih Lux is the star running back for Patrick Henry and [player_tooltip player_id="186983" first="Jayden" last="Davis"] is a star defender. Birmingham has two stars of its own in [player_tooltip player_id="25318" first="Arlis" last="Boardingham"] and Delamonte Barnes. Birmingham went down and tested itself against Southern Section teams this season so they won’t be intimidated by a good San Diego team.
The pick: Birmingham
