This upcoming weekend, two powerhouse programs, Collins Hill, and Milton, are going to be going head to head. Not only is this a star studded matchup, but both teams are pretty evenly matched on both sides of the ball. So, since this is the case, who has the edge? Well, below, we will take some time to make notes on each team’s season so far, as to give you a bit of a preview of what to expect this week. When this is all said and done, we, along with any reader, will be able to go from there and make any inference and prediction that we can leading into this weekend. As we start to dissect things a bit, it is only right to take some time to dive into the season that Collins Hill football has had. Record wise, they met all expectations as they march into this game with a 14-0 record. Not only is this impressive in itself, but they have defeated great programs along the way. To this point of the season, they have defeated teams such as Rome, Brookwood, East Coweta, North Gwinnett, Pebblebrook, Lowndes, and Grayson. This list in itself contains powerful programs throughout the state of Georgia, who have stomped opposing teams in their own right. Despite this, quite easily, Collins Hill established dominance against them. As they enter this game, they managed to beat Grayson last round, only further showing that they can overcome who beat them last year. Not only did they do this, but they held them to 0 points. If this isn’t a statement, we don’t know what is. In addition to this, it should also be noted that the Eagles have only held opponents to 75 points all year, while being able to put up 534 points. Star players to look out for on their offensive side of the ball include that of [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"], [player_tooltip player_id="33893" first="Sam" last="Horn"], [player_tooltip player_id="220719" first="Ethan" last="Davis"], Cam Pedro, and Ryan Stephens. With this, the defensive studs on their roster that are worth noting include that of [player_tooltip player_id="94016" first="Christian" last="Harris"], Asani Redwood, Jayden Davis, [player_tooltip player_id="101844" first="Jaylen" last="George"], and Dion Crawford. On the other side of the field, Milton, and their incredible season should also be given their appropriate respect. Unlike the Collins Hill Eagles, who enter this game undefeated, these Milton Eagles enter this matchup with a 13-1 record, with an undefeated regional performance. In fact, their only loss on the year comes to North Cobb, a non-regional opponent. Nevertheless, throughout the season, Milton took care of business against every single opponent that came their way. Not only did they outscore every opponent but North Cobb in a blowout fashion, but to this point of the season, Milton has already put up 604 points- which is decent margin more than Collins Hill has. Unfortunately, to their fault, they have allowed more points this year, as they have allowed 279 total points so far. With this being said, even though their defense has stars lining up for them, they have an uphill battle. Their defensive stars include that of [player_tooltip player_id="71313" first="Lebbeus" last="Overton"], DJ Oates, Maurice Clipper, and [player_tooltip player_id="34033" first="Bryce" last="Thornton"]. Offensively, as you can tell, they have a lot of firepower, and players that are worth keeping an eye on include that of [player_tooltip player_id="33880" first="Jack" last="Nickel"], [player_tooltip player_id="95164" first="Jordan" last="McDonald"], [player_tooltip player_id="33991" first="Devin" last="Farrell"], [player_tooltip player_id="137437" first="Debron" last="Gatling"], [player_tooltip player_id="220710" first="Brandon" last="Best"], and Tyhler Williams. After taking the time to review both teams in depth, as well as their firepower, strength of schedule, and all around performance, we would have to give the edge to Collins Hill. Defensively, we think they are more stout, which will help against a loaded Milton offense. Along with this, we think that their offense has been more consistent against higher levels of competition. When taking a look at the route to the playoffs that Collins Hill has had, it can be noted that it was not an easy one. To get here, they had to beat Lambert, Pebblebrook, Lowndes, and Grayson- who are all stellar programs. While we think that the game will potentially come down to the wire, we also think that each team will put up a fair amount of points. When it is all said and done, we think Collins Hill comes out on top 42-35.
