Class of 2024 Players to Watch in the Big North

Now going way up north to the Big North conference! Here’s some 2024 talent to watch. <strong>Traverse City Central QB/LB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14858513/Brayden-McCoon">[player_tooltip player_id="249545" first="Brayden" last="McCoon"]</a></strong> McCoon is the next man up at quarterback and perhaps even linebacker with [player_tooltip player_id="30131" first="Joshua" last="Burnham"] graduating and going on to Notre Dame. As a quarterback, McCoon and Burnham are polar opposites with McCoon being a strong-armed pocket passer, while Burnham was a straight-up tank. McCoon has a high ceiling at the QB spot, as he’s very accurate and has a ton of highlights throwing great deep balls. Defensively, he’s a bit light at 6’2 170, so I’m looking for him to put on some muscle and learn from Burnham’s aggressiveness and IQ on that front. <strong>Traverse City West T/TE <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11619100/Kyler-Brunan">[player_tooltip player_id="249538" first="Kyler" last="Brunan"]</a></strong> Brunan is the prototype T/TE standing at 6’4 250 (the same as TJ Hockenson, actually). I currently see him as way more of a blocking TE, but if he gains muscle while learning to run routes, he can be a problem. He’s currently a great blocker that sports nice power and fundamentals as an offensive lineman. I’m interested and excited to see how Brunan is utilized in the future. <strong>Alpena QB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15140360/Jake-Zann">[player_tooltip player_id="249503" first="Jake" last="Zann"]</a></strong> Zann’s highlight tape is impressive, and I mean really impressive. Zann throws a tight, accurate spiral and has one of the prettier balls I’ve seen. The ball flies off his hand like a rocket at times, especially when throwing down the middle of the field. Though, I also saw some plays where Zann would float the ball a bit much, especially when throwing horizontally towards the sidelines. Zann is overall an outstanding quarterback for D2 and I’m interested to see what he’s able to do in 2022. <strong>Petoskey ATH <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15169145/CJ-Hibbler">[player_tooltip player_id="249497" first="CJ" last="Hibbler"]</a></strong> Hibbler is mainly a slot receiver that can be seen doing many different things on the offensive end. He’s a good speedy pass-catcher who runs some clean routes. The name of his game though is his elusiveness. At times, Hibbler lines up in the backfield and is used as a phenomenal elusive back, or he gets a handoff from motion in the slot, and he’s even done some damage in the wildcat. Hibbler is a multi-talented athlete that the coaching staff seems to take advantage of quite well.
