We take a look at the south side of the state as we recap the top offensive and defensive standouts from Class 5A, District 3.
That includes teams such as Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Dubuque Hempstead, Cedar Falls and Dubuque Senior.

The top passer in the district was Dubuque Senior’s [player_tooltip player_id="98642" first="Jack" last="Gilligan"]. The senior racked up 2,237 yards in the air, completing 60 percent of his throws with 17 touchdowns.
Gilligan also showed off his dual-threat abilities with 524 yards and six scores on the ground. He is a solid mix of a passer and runner, displaying nice touch with his throws while showing more than enough athleticism to create when the protection breaks down.
The lefty has great arm strength and can also handle long-snapping duties as an added bonus.
[player_tooltip player_id="152703" first="Jazan" last="Williams"] - Cedar Rapids Kennedy - RB/DB - 5-11 - 180
As a junior, [player_tooltip player_id="152703" first="Jazan" last="Williams"] left a lasting impression on the state. The Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout ran for 1,239 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging almost five yards per carry.
With great size and strength, Williams has all the tools to excel as a senior and really leave his mark. He is tough to bring down with just one tackler, and explosive when he gets to the open field. His most powerful trait is a devastating stiff-arm that would make Derrick Henry blush.
[player_tooltip player_id="247989" first="Drew" last="Campbell"] - Cedar Falls - DE - 6-4 - 195
[player_tooltip player_id="23966" first="Trey" last="Campbell"] garnered much of the press this past year for Cedar Falls, but as he departs, another Campbell is ready to step into the lead role. [player_tooltip player_id="247989" first="Drew" last="Campbell"] was a bright spot on defense for the Tigers.
Campbell, a sophomore, recorded 8.5 tackles for loss including 5.5 sacks from his spot on the defensive line. He finished with 22.5 tackles, including 15 solo stops. It would not be surprising if Cedar Falls uses Campbell in more than one way next year.
[player_tooltip player_id="243183" first="Jayden" last="Siegert"] - Dubuque Hempstead - WR/DB - 195
Opposing defenses knew [player_tooltip player_id="243183" first="Jayden" last="Siegert"] would be a focal point of the attack for Dubuque Hempstead each week. It didn’t matter, though, as the senior continued to get the ball.
Siegert recorded 62 receptions for 630 yards with 10 touchdowns, averaging over 10 yards per catch. He has great body control, meeting the ball and bringing it easily in to make the catch time after time.
