Bixby’s “Last Dance” in Class 6A-2 ended with a 63-14 win over Deer Creek and a whole lot of history on Thursday night. The win gave Bixby their 49th consecutive victory, setting the state’s 11-man record for longest winning streak. It was also their fourth consecutive state championship and seventh in the last eight seasons. They’re also the first 11-man program to finish a season unbeaten in three straight seasons. TURNING POINT
You could essentially pick any of Bixby’s touchdowns early on in the game, like their first offensive play of the game but we’ll go a little deeper into the first half. Bixby really put the nail in the coffin when Deer Creek got a first down for the first time and then threw an interception on the next play to Fugate. Bixby would then score on the Burke touchdown pass to Solomon with 2:26 left in the second quarter to go up 28-0. It might have been over before that but this was the final nail in the Deer Creek coffin.
