The 6A semi’s should both be some close matchups on a weekend loaded with some of the top talent in Arizona. Here’s a look at the 6A semifinals preview:
#4 Red Mountain @ #1 Highland
After a 9-2 regular season and two close playoff wins, Red Mountain will head to Highland to take on the #1 seed. There wasn’t a ton of hype about Red Mountain at the beginning of the season, especially with former QB Jalen Daniels transferring to California for his senior year. But it doesn’t matter, because this Red Mountain squad has stepped up big and has fought there way through tough games all year to earn this shot in the semi’s. Now, Red Mountain 2023 QB [player_tooltip player_id="165950" first="Carter" last="Crispin"] has come out of nowhere and stepped up this season by throwing for 2,420 yards and 26 TD’s, while standout WR [player_tooltip player_id="42929" first="Ja’Kobi" last="Lane"] has been a huge part in that, racking up 71 receptions for 965 yards and 13 TD’s, establishing a raw connection with Crispin. Highland QB and 2020 playoff breakout [player_tooltip player_id="42818" first="Gage" last="Dayley"] has been a flamethrower all season, dicing up defenses by throwing for 2,059 yards and 22 TD’s, while having a talented receiving core to throw to. It should be an interesting matchup, and numerous prospects will have a big opportunity to rise their stock on a big stage.

#3 Williams Field @ #2 Chaparral
An explosive Williams Field program will head to Scottsdale to take on the reigning 6A champs. Chaparral was potentially one win away in the regular season from punching their ticket to the open division, as they suffered close losses to Queen Creek (21-33), Hamilton (32-25), Brophy (27-28), and Liberty (37-41), and even beat open division contender Saguaro 27-26. There’s no doubt they had one of the toughest schedules in the state, and they proved they can compete with anyone. [player_tooltip player_id="42815" first="Brayten" last="Silbor"] has been an absolute gunslinger and one of the best players in the state this season, throwing for 3,594 yards and 39 TD’s to bring the juice to that Chap offense. Williams Field’s [player_tooltip player_id="42957" first="CJ" last="Tiller"] and [player_tooltip player_id="42924" first="Kyler" last="Kasper"] have solidified themselves as one of the best QB-WR duos in the state as well, as the Tiller-Kasper connection has been a mismatch all season. Both secondaries better be loose on Friday night, because this game has shootout potential given the level of production from both offenses.
