As usual The Katy Tigers started off strong and aggressive with a major lead of 27-7 by the end of the 1st half. However, once the 3rd quarter started The Summer Creek Bulldogs took the fight to the Tigers. The Bulldogs found their second wind by scoring a total of three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th and last quarter it was anyone’s game. Unfortunately, by the end Summer Creek couldn’t catch up The Katy Tigers. The final score was a close score of 34-31 with The Katy Tigers moving on to state semifinals. Although, The Summer Creek Bulldogs lost they still had amazing standouts on both offense and defense. I will be discussing Summer Creeks’ standouts on offense.
#6 Cory Nichols QB, WR Jr 6’0
Cory Nichols was a great wide receiver and quarterback. Cory was quick, fast and was the main target as the wide receiver. Whenever Cory lined up as quarterback it was always for a wildcat formation. Meaning as soon as Cory received the hike he took off and ran. This is Cory’s 1st year with the Summer Creek Bulldogs and next year in his senior season he will continue to be integral in Summer Creek’s offense. Cory ended the game with seven carries, 30 rushing yards, six receptions, 93 receiving yards with a total of 123 all purpose yards and two touchdowns.
#9 Jahrik Jones QB Jr 6’1 195 lbs
Jahrik Jones is a commendable quarterback. Jahrik had multiple skill sets as a quarterback. Jahrik could throw, run, scramble and execute a play under pressure. Most of Jahrik great pass plays were made while he was under pressure. Jahrik is a college prospect he currently has one offer from North American University. Jahrik ended the game with 12 completions out of 18 throws and threw for one touchdown pass.
#25 Lloyd Avant RB So 5’10 190 lbs
Lloyd Avant is a strong and fast running back. Lloyd would always make an impact while running the ball. Lloyd was very tenacious being very hard to tackle and bring down. Lloyd always fought for every single yard he could get. Despite being only in his sophomore year Lloyd’s skills this season grab the attention and received an offer from The University of Central Florida. Lloyd ended the game with 20 carries with 146 rushing yards.
#22 Torrie Curry RB Sr 5’7 165 lbs
Torrie Curry is another standout running back on Summer Creek’s offensive roster. Torrie is quick and great at staying on his feet. Torrie knew how to take a hit and keep on running. Torrie one play zoomed pass the inside took a hit stayed on his feet and ran into the end zone for a touchdown. It is unfortunate that Torrie high school football career is over, but Torrie currently has one college offer from Bethel College. Torrie ended the game with 13 carries, 60 rushing yards and rushed in for one touchdown.
