On Saturday afternoon December 4th, 2021 I decided to go watch The Katy Tigers (14-0) vs The Summer Creek Bulldogs (10-4). They played in the 6A Division II Championship Game. As usual The Katy Tigers started off strong and aggressive with a major lead of 27-7 by the end of the 1st half. However, once the 3rd quarter started The Summer Creek Bulldogs took the fight to the Tigers. The Bulldogs found their second wind by scoring a total of three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th and last quarter it was anyone’s game. Unfortunately, by the end Summer Creek couldn’t catch up The Katy Tigers. The final score was a close score of 34-31 with The Katy Tigers moving on to state semifinals. Although, The Summer Creek Bulldogs lost they still had amazing standouts on both offense and defense. I will be discussing Summer Creeks’ standouts on defense.

#2 Myles Thomas DB Sr 5’10 150 lbs

One dependable defensive back is #2 Myles Thomas. Myles not only provided great coverage he was also incredibly quick and fast. Myles speed is what made him standout the most. The 1st great play I saw Myles do was when he blocked one of Katy Tigers kicker’s field goal. Myles later on was able to prevent two touchdowns by coming out of nowhere and hawking down the wide receiver twice. Myles has a lot of hustle it’s unfortunate that his high school football career is now over. However, Myles currently has a college offer from Ottawa College. Myles ended the game with five overall tackles.

#91 Rocky Jack DT Sr 6’1 265 lbs

Rocky Jack is a big and tenacious defensive tackle. Rocky was solid as a rock and hard to move like a rock. No matter if it was one offensive lineman on him or two he would get off the block and go after whoever had the ball. Rocky was always pursuing the ball no matter if it was near him or not. One play Rocky chased down the running back for 50 yards and almost tackle him. Even though, Rocky didn’t make the tackle his determination not to give up and running until the whistle was blown is a standout quality to have. It is unfortunate that Rocky’s high football career is over, but he does have a three college offers. Rocky has offers from; Angelo State University, East Texas Baptist University and Louisiana College. Rocky ended the game with four overall tackles and caused a fumble.

#34 Chase Angel LB Sr 5’10 210 lbs

Chase Angel had a beneficial game against The Katy Tigers. Chase is a line backer and quite a strong one at that. Chase has textbook tackling form and is really good at wrapping up. Chase was also able to recover a loose fumble. It is unfortunate that Chase’s high football career is over, but he does have a two college offers. Chase has offers from; Hardin-Simmons University and Louisiana College. Chase ended the night with three overall tackles and a fumble recovery.

#7 Darein Hargrove DB Jr 5’11 150 lbs

Darein Hargrove is a fast defensive back. Darein didn’t make a lot of tackles because he provided great coverage and the ball was rarely near him. However, one play Darein read a pass play caught an interception and ran it in for a 17 yard touchdown.

#90 Caden Rain DE, TE Sr 6’4 220 lbs

Another standout defensive lineman is #90 Caden Rain. Caden is big, quick and strong defensive end. As a defensive end Caden can get off blocks and attack the ball holder. I also noticed Chase was persistent in chasing down the ball holder. It is unfortunate that Caden’s high football career is over, but he does have a two college offers. Chase has offers from; Hardin-Simmons University and Louisiana College. Chase ended the game with three overall tackles.
