Jenks and Union are two titans of Oklahoma high school football. The old rivals met once again for the Class 6A-1 State Championship game in Edmond this past Saturday. When two programs as big as Jenks and Union meet, there’s sure to be top performers all over the field. And that was certainly the case. Here’s a look at the players that shined for both squads.
Cade Stacy Cade Stacy 6'2" | DB Jenks | 2022 State OK – 2022 Defensive Back
One consistent for the Trojans over recent seasons has been Cade Stacy Cade Stacy 6'2" | DB Jenks | 2022 State OK as a shutdown corner. After early coverage issues, Stacy and his teammates shut down Union’s passing game for the second half. The team as a whole grabbed three interceptions, with Stacy recording an interception in the state title game for the second straight season.
Glenny Jones Glenny Jones 5'10" | ATH Jenks | 2022 State OK – 2022 Wide Receiver Defensive Back
The two way star has been a X Factor for Jenks all season long, and he’s stepped up often. Unfortunately on the opening play of the game, he was beat for a touchdown. But cornerbacks need short memories. Jones showed he has just that. As he refocused and played a big role in shutting down the Union passing attack the rest of the game. The high motor senior also made one of the biggest plays of the game. In the third quarter, Jalyn Stanford Jalyn Stanford 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Jenks | 2023 State OK broke into the open field, Union’s defenders was able to run him down and punched the ball out near the goalline. As the ball bounced into the endzone it was the hustle of Jones that allowed him to pounce onto the ball and score the go ahead touchdown for the Trojans.
Jaiden Carroll Jaiden Carroll 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Jenks | 2023 State OK – 2023 Running Back (MVP)
The shifty running back was the engine for the Trojans. After their slow start the Trojans leaned on Caroll to get their offense back on track. He ate up yards all afternoon long, consistently able to move the chains with chunk plays. When on the perimeter, he was often able to make defenders miss and always looked inches away from busting a long one. Carroll’s biggest play of the game came at the start of the second half, where he exploded for a 41 yard kickoff return that set up the Trojans with a short field. The junior running back finished 147 yards on 27 carries.
Jalyn Stanford Jalyn Stanford 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Jenks | 2023 State OK – 2023 Running Back
The other half of the Trojans’ dynamic backfield duo brought the big plays with his big time top end speed. He had two long runs in the second half, including one in the final frame where he busted out a sweet spin move to rack up more yards. That run set up the Trojans with a field goal that put them up 8 points late in the game. Stanford finished with 100 yards on only 8 carries.

Union’s defense couldn’t contain the Jenks rushing attack but they did a great job against the Jenks passing game. Ray led the way for Union’s defense with a team-high 11 tackles and also had an interception that he returned for 37 yards.

found Belt for an 80-yard touchdown as the senior sprinted down the Union sideline after beating his man. Belt also played a big role on the defensive side of the ball and finished with six tackles with one of them coming for a loss.

and company came out red hot. On the first play, Banks found Belt for the 80-yard touchdown. He later tossed a 43-yard touchdown to

. Banks was also Union’s leading rusher with 43 yards on 13 carries. It was a tough day but Banks has been so valuable to the Union program and his versatility was on display again on Saturday.

After surprising Union in the regular season, the Redhawks were ready for the freshman quarterback this time around. Reisig had some early miscues but settled down and had a decent day. The freshman still threw for 79 yards on 8-11 passing. And he scored Jenks’ first touchdown on an impressive 26-yard touchdown run. He also added another TD on a QB sneak later to start the second half.

has been Jenks’ leading receiver all season and one of their best weapons on offense. But it was his play on defense that captured the state championship for the Trojans. Walls picked off Banks in the fourth quarter to put the Trojans up 30-15 and erase any chance for a Union rally. On offense, Walls finished with two catches for 30 yards.
