The initial Class of 2023 rankings is out! [Check them out here] We are spotlighting some of the members from the initial rankings list. Below are five prospects from all over the board that I believe you should get familiar with and offer before they're off the board.

[player_tooltip player_id="226986" first="Kellen" last="Steuben"] (OL) | Bellevue West | 6’2" 250 lbs
Overall: 21 | OL: 4
The Bellevue West football factory continues to pump out big, physical linemen. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="226986" first="Kellen" last="Steuben"] is no exception and looked dominant in 2021. Steuben is a walking pancake-maker and finishes his blocks with brutal hands and powerful driving legs. Kellen is a solid overall lineman but really shines in run blocking, where he can unleash his physicality. Steuben played guard this year and was a monster when asked to pull, and he is very dangerous when he builds up a head of steam. Combine his mean streak with his athleticism, and you get one of the top OL players in the 2023 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="227060" first="Collin" last="Fritton"] (QB) | Lincoln Southwest | 5’10" 170 lbs
Overall: 37 | QB: 4
[player_tooltip player_id="227060" first="Collin" last="Fritton"] is a very intriguing QB prospect coming out of Lincoln Southwest. Fritton started for the Silver Hawks as a sophomore and played very well. He continued that momentum going into his junior year and threw for 1,037 yards and eight touchdown passes. Collin showed the ability to make throws to all field levels and has good arm strength, and he can throw with zip or light touch passes. Fritton stepped up his game on the ground, where he showed off his elusiveness and quick feet. He does a great job recognizing when he needs to take off with the ball and has the speed to elude defenders. Fritton added 185 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and could see himself develop into a true dual-threat as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id="217062" first="Lance" last="Rucker"] (DL) | Millard South | 6’3" 205 lbs
Overall: 45 | DL: 7
Lance is a player I’m anticipating will shoot up the board before all is said and done. Lance is a lengthy, athletic defensive end that continues to thrive in the trenches for the Millard South Patriots. In a heavy defensive rotation, Rucker racked up 36 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks, and provided several flashes of the devastating pass-rusher he is becoming. He is insanely quick off the snap and is especially tough to block when he lines up wide. Lance is a great tackler and uses his long, strong arms to wrap up the ball-carrier and secure his punishing tackle. Rucker and [player_tooltip player_id="209339" first="JR" last="Lecuona"] already looks like one of the most menacing combinations going into the 2022 season.

[player_tooltip player_id="239821" first="Ethan" last="Stuhr"] (LB) | Gretna | 6’2 200 lbs
Overall: 55 | LB: 7
Ethan is a super tough two-way player for the state champion Gretna Dragons. Stuhr was a reliable blocking tight end that loves to upend defenders while opening running lanes. Stuhr makes most of his impact on the defensive side, where he plays a very versatile role. Ethan totaled 67 tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack for the Dragons. He can line up on the edge either standing up or with his hand in the dirt, he can post up in the inside linebacker spot, and he can line up in the slot. Ethan is very athletic and smart with his play, making adjustments to his pass-rush technique as he gets a feel for his opponent. Ethan is a stud and should continue to shine as he takes on a more significant role in his senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id="227544" first="Luke" last="Feist"] (DB) | Beatrice | 6’4" 200 lbs
Overall: 71 | DB: 7
Here is a little-known prospect coming from Beatrice. [player_tooltip player_id="227544" first="Luke" last="Feist"] is a hard-hitting safety with tons of size, length, and tenacity. At 6’4" and 200 pounds, Luke packs a punch when he tackles and uses his length very well in coverage, especially getting his long arms up to bat away passes. He is very fast and can run from sideline to sideline, add in his quick decision-making, and he has the makings of a top-tier defensive back. His athleticism translates to the offensive side, where his height and physicality create mismatches, and he should hopefully get more looks in the passing game in his senior year. Overall, Feist is a sleeper in this class and will be a breakout player!
