The final rankings for the 2022 class are now live. The players in this class were crucial to their teams success in the 2021 season, which led to a state championship and other playoff success for most of the athletes.

I was hired last March, and given the rankings leadership a few months later, lacking much experience with these players. Hours and hours of film study and databasing allowed me to catch up and these final rankings are a result of that. The rankings look completely different from when I first updated them, which is also a credit to all of our staff writers who have been working tirelessly attending games and watching film. A lot of players made big jumps, mostly due to big seasons, but also because I didn’t have much experience watching them when the last updated was submitted. With a full season of experience, I cut the rankings down to the top 100 players. Watch list players were included in some position rankings as well.

Here are some notes on biggest risers in the 2022 class as well as the top ten players.

TOP TEN

1. Will Johnson

Committed: Michigan

The number one player in the class since the rankings were created, Johnson proved he remained the best after a stellar 2021 season.

Committed: N/A

Still keeping an eye on his recruiting decision, with schools like Kentucky, Georgia, and Michigan in play late. Walker played himself into more offers with a phenomenal season for Cass Tech. He will be announcing his decision on December 15th.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="30128" first="Alex" last="VanSumeren"]

Committed: Arkansas

A top defensive player in the country. The Belleville standout has a lot of positive traits in his game. He gets to be part of a football resurgence at Arkansas next season.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="30144" first="Tyrell" last="Henry"]

Committed: Michigan State

7. [player_tooltip player_id="30133" first="Dillon" last="Tatum"]

8. [player_tooltip player_id="30132" first="Antonio" last="Gates Jr"]

Committed: Michigan State

Fordson’s identity meshes well with Gates. Physical and has a great ability to separate. Gates will create matchup nightmares for defenses in the big ten while at Michigan State.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="30137" first="Nolan" last="Ziegler"]

Committed: Notre Dame

Another big part of keeping the 2022 class in South Bend together, Ziegler is a force on defense. He made a move up to #9 after being ranked 10th in the last update.

Committed: N/A

Another late commit to watch, Rapley is considering 10 offers currently. A member of the 2021 freak list, Rapley shows freakish speed on film.

BIGGEST RISERS

[player_tooltip player_id="99350" first="Koen" last="Entringer"]

From watchlist to ranked #20, Entringer picked up a ton of in season recruiting attention. An elite athlete who has gotten national recognition for his play this season.
