Some backs, including the one’s listed below, have continued to improve from week to week, and have added to their totals, that can be seen to be almost unrivaled compared to most of the state’s players. Nevertheless, achieving such gaudy numbers is not easy, and in fact, it is one of the harder things to do because of the large amount of contact that comes along with playing the RB position. Because of this, we have an added amount of respect for the players who have been able to perform at such a high level, so consistently. Below, feel free to take a look at the top 4 rushing leaders in the state.
Rob Brown (RB)- Trion
Not only has Brown continued to tote the rock at a very high level, but his performance has continued to help him lead the entire state in rushing yards. At this point of the season, he has already rushed for 2,002 yards, and has helped lead his team to a 9-1 record, with an overall 4-1 regional record. In addition to this, he averages about 10.8 yards a carry, with an average of 200 yards a game. This high level of success leads the state in rushing by a one yard margin, which will make the closing of this football season interesting as the state’s rushing crown will come down to the wire. It should also be noted that Brown has begun to turn even more heads as his success accumulates from week to week. Because of this, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he has already scored 34 times, with 32 of these scores having come on the ground.

Brown has continued to dominate the run game for his team, as he has totaled 2,001 yards to this point of the season. This currently puts him one yard away from the leading rushing spot in the entire state. Regardless, this incredible season has been accomplished through games like last week, where he rushed for about 134 yards and 3 TD’s. Other notable performances include that of his win the week prior, as he totaled 216 yards and 5 TD’s. At this point of the season, Brown also averages about 10.9 yards a carry, and 200.1 yards a game. This high level of success has come with 35 total TD’s, with 32 of them being on the ground for his team.
Simeon Askew (RB)- Houston County
The margin between the second place rusher in the state, and third place rusher, is quite a hefty one. Third place in rushing in the entire state of Georgia is that of Simeon Askew, who has rushed for 1,635 yards this year. Even despite this success, his team has unfortunately fell to a 4-6 record. Fortunately for him though, his big time performances have garnished him more and more attention as the weeks go by. For example, he averages over 204 yards a game, and performances such as his games against Veterans (272), Warner Robins (207), and Statesboro (257), have been key to his success. As a whole, these performances have helped him to total about 13 TD’s this year, with 12 of them being on the ground.
Duke Watson (RB)- Mary Persons
Our fourth place rushing leader in the state of Georgia is that of Duke Watson, who currently has a total of 1,619 yards on the ground. His success rushing the ball has helped his team to a 7-3 overall record, with two of their losses being to regional opponents. Even with this, Watson has proved to be borderline unstoppable this year, as he averages just above 161 yards a game, with 7.7 yards a carry. He has also been a huge contributor when it comes to the scoreboard, as he has been responsible for 24 of Mary Persons’ touchdowns this year. Out of all of these touchdowns, 23 of them have been on the ground, only further proving that it has been extremely difficult for defenders to stop his effectiveness with the ball on his hands.
