Specifically, there were plenty of RB’s last week who continued to make a name for themselves, and put up great numbers, with great game changing performances. Below, feel free to take a look at a few of the players who came to mind for us, and who we feel are worth a look.
Braxton Mueller (RB)- Whitewater
While plenty of people may not view Mueller’s performance with as much respect as it is due, we here at PrepRedzone recognize that some of the more underrated performances, are some of the most important for their team. Last Friday, in Whitewater’s win over Harris County, Mueller continued to step up for his team, as he rushed the ball 13 times for 157 yards, and 1 TD. This performance kept the opposing defense on their toes all day, and ultimately contributed to a final score of 40-20.
Champ Davis (QB)- Marist
Davis was another one of our favorite, underrated MVP’s last week for a few reasons. Not only was he a versatile player at the QB position in his team’s 56-21 win over Mays, but he also found ways to have success in the air, and on the ground. In this game, he ran the ball 16 times, and totaled 157 yards. With this, he also managed to score twice when toting the football. In the air, Davis also threw for 86 yards, and 2 TD’s, making it even harder for the defense to stop him, because of the way he was able to keep the defense off balance.
Colby Sikes (RB)- Apalachee
Last Friday, Sikes had a big time performance for his team, as he managed to run for 128 yards, and 2 TD’s. In this game, his performance helped his team come on top 34-28, in a very close win, proving that a controlled running game can take you a long way at the high school level of play.
Harlem Diamond (RB)- Cedartown
Last week, Diamond was a bit of an underrated MVP throughout the whole state of Georgia. Perhaps this was due to the fact that his team completely blew out Heritage High School. Regardless, on only 7 carries, he ran for 150 yards, while also racking up 3 TD’s.
Miles Hamby (PK)- Archer
Even though kickers typically do not get their fair share of attention, Hamby is certainly very deserving of a shout out. Last week, in Archer’s win over Norcross, Hamby was the single point of scoring success for his team. In this game, he kicked 3 field goals, and managed to score on all 3, making the final score of the game 9-0. What makes this even more impressive is the consistency in which he was able to do this, and the pressure in which he was able to accomplish this feat. Because of this, Hamby is by far one of our favorite underrated MVP’s last week.
Quay Ashley (RB)- Dublin
Ashley managed to put up a good performance last week against Montgomery County, as he ran the rock 16 times, and managed to put up 140 yards when doing so. With this, he also had 2 TD’s, but the 12 points in which he contributed were huge for his team, as it helped them to defeat Montgomery County 34-21.
Luke Windom (RB)- Bowdon
Because Windom plays for Bowdon High School, he likely will not get as much shine as he deserves compared to prospects who play for some of your bigger named programs. Regardless, Windom had a successful showing last week, as he toted the rock 11 times in his team’s 44-0 win against Armuchee. In this win, he accumulated 138 yards, which punished the opposing defense, and he added a TD to his resume, only further pushing his team to success.
