Here are some top tackling machines from this past year in 5A….
Vincent Hill – Creekside
One of the top senior linebackers in Atlanta, Hill has been leading one of the top defenses in the state for Creekside this season. Hill is a quick, instinctive linebacker with a true nose for the football. He’s a modern-day linebacker with lots of potential as he shows solid cover skills to go along with his ability to wrap up and tackle on a consistent basis. He gets after the quarterback against the pass, and has enough speed to run down just about every running back in the area. There’s a lot to like about his game, and if he continues to play at this level, the Seminoles are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs. In the regular season, Hill has made 125 total tackles with 10 TFLs and five sacks.
Taye Seymore – Lithia Springs
Another impressive linebacker in the Atlanta area, Seymore had a big junior season and played well enough to receive some interest once his junior film makes the rounds across college desks. He’s a solid athlete at 6-foot-0 200-pounds who played better and better as the season went on. He tackled everything in sight in the final two games, totaling 32 tackles in the final two games. It wasn’t a great season for the team overall, but thanks to Seymore’s impressive play on defense, they were able to win three out of their final four games. Seymore ended the season with 122 tackles, 9 TFLs and three sacks.
Miles Thurston – Hiram
Another West Georgia standout, the senior from Hiram may not blow you away physically, but he’s a sure tackler who had a very strong senior season this fall. It was a tough year for Hiram, but Thurston played as hard as he could each and every play. He showed quickness, physicality, and proved that he’s one of the top tacklers in the region. In just nine games, Thurston made 120 tackles this fall and was one of the more productive defenders in all of 5A this fall.
Dajwon Deloach – Northside
A big, physical linebacker at 6-foot-2 220-pounds, Deloach was able to roam the field and leave a lot of bruises on ball carriers this season. He’s a versatile defender who can line up in multiple spots, rushing off the edge and also playing in the middle of the field. He can play inside linebacker, outside linebacker, and play on the edge as well. He’s quick off the ball, uses his hands well to get off blocks, and knows how to chase down the ball-carrier. He’s coming off a really impressive season as a junior, racking up 115 total tackles this season with four forced fumbles. He’ll be a prospect who could see some offers come his way in the off-season.
Terrance Hill – Eagles Landing
It was a tough year for Eagles Landing, but a very productive one for team captain and senior linebacker, Terrance Hill. Another thick, heavier linebacker at 6-foot-0 215-pounds, Hill is a tough, instinctive player who always finds his way to the football. He’s physical, can play multiple linebacker positions, and doesn’t miss a lot of tackles. He ended his senior season with 114 tackles.
