The Chaparrals could simply not be stopped and senior quarterback Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX and sophomore running back Jack Kayser led the charge in scoring. Check out the top players from the game.
1. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 292 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 75 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown
Klubnik once again showcased why he is among the best in Central Texas. He is consistently accurate, has a great arm and is calm inside the pocket. He is also athletic and can run the ball when necessary. For any opposing team, it will be difficult to face him as he is a natural-born leader that the team is fully behind.
2. Jack Kayser (SO-RB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 109 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 2 receptions, 49 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Kayser lit up the scoreboard as well and was deadly within scoring range. He was also excellent as a receiving back and made the most out of each reception. Both Kayser and Klubnik kept the Hutto defense on edge, as both struck at the perfect timing so the defense could not get any patterns down.
3. Keaton Kubecka Keaton Kubecka 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Westlake | 2023 State TX (JR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 4 receptions, 110 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Kubecka matched the receptions with both junior wide receiver Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Austin Westlake | 2023 State TX and junior wide receiver Bryce Chambers, but Kubecka made the absolute most out of each reception. He averaged 27.5 yards per reception and also got a score. Considering the vast amount of targets Klubnik has in his arsenal, any number of the receivers can have a big day and this time it was Kubecka.
4. Jairiez Lambert (SR-WR) – Hutto High School (Hutto, TX)
Stats: 5 receptions, 65 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Although Hutto struggled all game to get points, one of the times the Hippoes did was with Lambert who seemed to be able to fly through the Westlake defense with little issue. He averaged 13 yards per reception and was able to connect with sophomore quarterback William Hammond for the only touchdown in the game.
5. Ethan Burke (SR-DL) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 5 total tackles, 4 solo tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks
Burke was an offense’s nightmare in this game and completely disruptive. That seems to be a common trend for Burke and the Westlake defense as the Chaparrals also got two interceptions via senior defensive back Luke Aaron and sophomore defensive back Judson Crockett. Still, Burke is a player worth naming as well as he caused issues within the trenches.
