These two teams have been mostly dominant all season and both had high octane offenses, but the pure rushing attack from the Panthers could not be stopped. These are the top players from the game.
1. Mason Shorb Mason Shorb 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Rouse | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
Stats: 474 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns
Despite the loss, Shorb played one of his best games yet. He did not throw a single interception and ended the night with a 72.7 completion percentage which includes a 71-yard pass as well. Shorb has had an excellent year and although he did not finish it the way he wanted, he is still worthy of being named as one of the best quarterbacks in Central Texas.
2. Joe Pitchford (SO-QB) – Liberty Hill High School (Liberty Hill, TX)
Stats: 1 passing touchdown, 235 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns
For Liberty Hill, Pitchford did most of his work on the ground, as the Panthers naturally do. However, he also threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Kaden McMahan. Still, Pitchford also had a 64-yard run and managed to outrun the starting running back, sophomore Noah Long Noah Long 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Liberty Hill | 2024 State TX .
3. Noah Long Noah Long 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Liberty Hill | 2024 State TX (SO-RB) – Liberty Hill High School (Liberty Hill, TX)
Stats: 142 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns
Despite Pitchford beating him out in yards, Long has been a known force to be reckoned with all season. Once again, against a tough team like Rouse, Long proved how incredible he is on the ground. Considering how young Long is, he will continue to be a problem for opposing defenses for years to come.
4. Troy Oliver Jr. (SR-WR) – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
Stats: 9 receptions, 214 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
Oliver was Shorb’s favorite target all game and it shows. He was on the receiving end of the 71-yard pass, and snagged two touchdowns in the game. He averaged 23.8 yards per catch. While not the way he wanted to end his career at Rouse, Oliver has proven himself as a fantastic athlete who is definitely ready for the next level.
5. Jalen Becerra (SR-WR) – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
Stats: 6 receptions, 134 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Likewise for Becerra, who along with Oliver, has been a favorite target for Shorb. Becerra has attributed a lot to the high octane offense of Rouse, and much like Oliver has proven he is capable to play in collegiate ball.
