Three teams from the Greenville-Anderson-Pickens area advanced to play for Upper State titles on Friday. Here’s a look at some outstanding individual performances worthy of Prep Redzone game balls.
Southside Christian rolled to another appearance in the 1A Upper State title game, and the Sabres did it, again, with defense in a 28-6 win. <strong>Hayden Aston</strong> notched an interception to help lead the Sabres to the win.
Daniel absolutely rolled to a return trip to the 3A title game, blasting Clinton 52-7. [player_tooltip player_id="153264" first="Trent" last="Pearman"] threw for 293 yards and 4 touchdowns, with [player_tooltip player_id="91140" first="Eli" last="Merck"] recording 169 receiving yards and 3 scores for the Lions.
[player_tooltip player_id="102962" first="Prometheus" last="Franklin II"] started things off with a bang for Greenville, connecting with <strong>Mazeo Bennett</strong> for a 62-yard touchdown on the Raiders’ first play. Franklin threw for 286 yards and two scores in a 42-23 win over Irmo.
There’s maximizing your opportunities, and then there’s what <strong>Josh Sapp</strong> did for Greenville. Sapp rushed just 7 times for Greenville, picking up 11 yards. FOUR of those carries, though, went for touchdowns, as Sapp scored on runs of 2, 3, 2, and 2 yards for the Raiders.
