2021 KYMSFA Tryout Offensive Top Performers: 7th Grade
At the KYMSFA team Kentucky tryouts there was plenty to be excited about. The evaluators had their hands full, as hundreds arrived to showcase their talents. The field at West Jessamine High School was covered in middle school athletes. These are just a few who left their mark on the event on the offensive side of the ball in the 7th grade (class of 2027) age group.
Bryce Bentley | Quarterback
This 7th grader at Caudill Middle School was not only accurate, but he was very versatile. Bentley put on an absolute clinic, zipping his passes into tight defensive windows. He seemed to keep his composure as the pocket collapsed. A confident quarterback with a bright future. Bentley’s QB mechanics were impeccable. He had plenty of speed to evade any pressure and still get his passes off
Ty Phillips | Running Back
At the running back position there was a ton of talent across the field. All the backs looked good in individual workouts, but when the 11 on 11 began the best began to stand out. Ty Phillips of Webster County Middle School was one of those stand outs. His speed out of the back field was intense, but when he got to open field he was leaving defenders shook. Phillips had outstanding ball security when hitting his gaps and was not afraid of contact.
Ladainien Smith | Running Back
Representing Campbellsville Middle School was Ladainien Smith, a powerful running back who excelled at hitting gaps and bouncing off tackles. A strong power runner with outstanding instincts and phenomenal breakaway acceleration. Smith did not shy away from contact, in fact he seemed to welcome it. The big bodied back can also fill any Full Back vacancies.
Carlo Chicko | Wide Receiver
At first glance an under sized wide receiver, but Carlo Chicko of Lawrence County has a giant like presence on the gridiron. Between his lightning speed off the line and his crisp route running, he quickly silenced any doubt about his abilities. His gloveless hands were like glue traps when the ball came his way. Carlo had no problem elevating for high passes being contested by safeties much taller than him.
