Brett Thiele – Lowell – DE – 6’1″ 250 lbs
Thiele was getting pressure all night and refused to allow the LT to set an edge. The defensive line was getting a great push early in the game and forced the offense into making a few bad mistakes. Thiele was able to T-off and rush the passer the entire second half and got home for a sack to kill a drive. He finished the night with 3 TFL, the sack, and tipped a pass on the night.
Brady Hoskins – Mishawaka Marian – DB – 5’10” 150 lbs
Hoskins was decent on Friday and didn’t allow a reception on any of the defenders he faced. He didn’t face many attempts that came his way but when he did he made the most of them. He broke up 1 of the passes and then intercepted the next one. They didn’t target his WR again. He finished the night with a handful of tackles, his PBU, and his interception.
Cameron McCreary – Mississinewa – DT – 6’1″ 270 lbs
McCreary and Mississinewa made the trip up north and came to play. The defense was able to make some huge plays and keep them in it. McCreary was lining up at every spot on the interior of the line on Friday. They just wanted to put him in a place to be successful and by moving him around the offense wasn’t able to gameplan away from him. McCreary blew up a 2 point attempt, multiple running plays, and got half a sack. He finished the night with minimal stats but he was all over the field. He was the best player for their defense on Friday and came through with a big performance.
Dean Ernsperger – New Prairie – DB – 5’8″ 147 lbs
Ernsperger lined up in a few different positions for the Cougars on Friday. He is their most versatile DB so moving him around the field helped with matchups and the game plan. He was able to make a few big plays on the night. He broke up a pair of passes, tipped another pass that should have been intercepted that fell through his teammate’s hands, and then added 6 tackles on the night.
