As more offenses are becoming pass-happy across the state, defenders are getting more and more opportunities to get after the QB and show college coaches that they can create some pressure at the next level.
Here are some small-town pass rushers who had big seasons this fall…
Kenwan Felton – Macon County
Macon County has produced one of the NFL’s best current linebackers in Chicago Bears star Roquan Smith, and they have another pass-rushing machine currently on the roster in rising senior, Kenwan Felton. The 6-foot-2 210-pounder is not the biggest pass rusher in the area, but he was absolutely one of the most productive. He has a long, lean frame that helped him get around the tackle with ease. He’s quick off the ball, he uses his hands well to get off blocks, and he showed great pursuit of the QB. As a senior this past fall, Felton made 22 sacks, leading Class A this year. He also added 80 tackles and 32 TFLs.
Ty Anderson – LB – Thomasville
One of the top senior linebackers in all of South Georgia, Anderson had a monster fall for the Bulldogs and got after the QB on a consistent basis. A quick, instinctive linebacker, Anderson doesn’t miss tackles. He made 144 total tackles this season to go along with his impressive sack total, which was 2nd most in the 2A classification. He was active and showed a true nose for the ball, making 19 TFLs as well. He was certainly one of the top overall pass rushers in South Georgia this season.
Terrion Webb – Rockmart
In Northwest Georgia is where you’ll find another sleeper pass rusher in Terrion Webb. A smaller, speedy rusher on the edge, Webb caused havoc all season long for QBs, making 11 sacks which was towards the top in the 3A classification. He also hurried the QB another 14 times, proving to be a menace for offensive lines just about every week. His best game came against Sonoraville where the senior got to the QB four different times.
Demarieo Sims – Cedartown
Another standout from NorthWest Georgia, Sims may be from small-town Cedartown, but he made big waves this year and was a nightmare all fall for opposing QBs. The 6-foot-2 215-pound senior was active, showed quickness, burst, and got off tackles with ease. He was too quick and athletic for opposing tackles in the region and consistently found the QB all year. He made 15 sacks on the season and made more than two sacks in four different games. He was one of the leading sack artists in 4A this past season.
Kamren Reese – Stockbridge
South of Atlanta in the small town of Stockbridge is where you’ll find one of the top sophomore pass rushers in the state. The 2024 defender was dominant off the edge at times due to his initial burst and speed off the line. He uses his hands to get off blocks and had a natural ability to get to the passer. He made 12 sacks on the season which was one of the best in the meto-Atlanta region.
